What's new

Weather

After the second heatwave in 2 weeks the sky is now broken cloud, there is a north easterly wind and all the widows are open. There's a lovely cool breeze flowing through the house :)

all the widows are open.
You're going to get a huge influx of lonely old men into your region. Open a b&b. Your fish buying budget will explode.

Summer is short here, but the past few days have been ideal - good breezes off the sea, sunshine with just enough clouds to be pretty, temperatures in the low 20s and very little humidity. I have a male song sparrow established in the tree beside the kitchen window, and he can sing like I've rarely heard before - he's extra talented.

That's what comes of the feeling of relief at being cool again, I forget how to type 🤣

I was actually cold yesterday evening, I had to put a (lightweight) long sleeve top on, and we had to close the windows (yes spelled it right this time) mid evening.

I guess I gave a new temperature gage… I was out this morning, doing some fencing ( it is hot as hades ) as I was just going to work a couple hours, before my fish shipment comes, and I transition to working in the house… after about an hour and a half, an alarm went off on my cell phone, with a warning on the screen, too high a temperature, for the cell phone to operate, and my phone shut down… I guess when that happens, it’s too hot to work outside… the phone was on my belt, under a shirt, so not in the direct sun…

at least all the animals have some shade in their pastures, but where I was working, was in the direct sun, with no shade but my big straw hat…

104 degree heat index right now, at 11:00 in the morning

It's only forecast to hit 88 today, but it will feel worse with this much moisture in the air.

I just saw the weirdest sunshower I have ever seen. The rain came in almost horizontally - huge drops on a violent wind for several minutes, with half the sky sunny. There was a sudden downdraft wind that hit hard - for a second the trees looked like they'd been concussed by an explosion. It was a really bad squall.

Now, on the wire outside, there's a crow preening her damp feathers under a rainbow. The sun is golden, everything looks clean and the song sparrows are living up to their name.

Lol yes it is Hades here also with 100 daily but regardless roughly like 3 pm I am mowing the lawn and no kid here but I take this heat as a personal insult and mow the lawn , lol

I'm not sure if it is hot or cold but i feel hot.

we’re still in a heat warning… supposed to be starting to cool, but it is not… 1.5 hours outside work at a time, makes me soaking wet, from top to bottom

That is close to what it looked like by me yesterday, but with a hint of green. Not from moisture but the Canada fires.
Creepy and stinky!
I think I'm on the very southern edge of the Canadian fire smoke. It was pretty foggy/hazy this morning again. I should try and take some photos at sunset tonight, last night was beautiful pinks and oranges.

I’m filling pasture water tanks today… broke a big sweat watching the hose from the well fill my portable tank for the tractor… nobody eats much, when it’s this hot, but they sure like a cool drink, when I refill their tanks ( I don’t let the water tanks go empty, but I over flow enough with cold well water to cool the tanks down, but don’t let it get too cold )
