Fish Connoisseur
I confess that I have never been much of a gardener. I enjoy sitting in a nice one but usually pay a man to mow my lawn and keep the beds tidyish. Most of what was in my beds was just rescued from the bargain table at the garden cent`re or cuttings from other people's gardens.
This year I finally filled and planted my fish pond. Maintenance has been a nighmare as it is next to a copse, but the fish I bought in 2004 have finally all gone. Its mostly planted now

But still some way off what my AI design assistant thinks it will look like in a couple of years.

I quite enjoyed getting there and re-did all the other beds as well, focusing on low maintenance drought tolerant plants that can deal with being drenched / soaked (well it is England
)
I have never paid any attention to the lawn but found the endless brown quite depressing. Don't like astro turf so I fenced off 2 small sections using the old puppy play pen and fed, seeded and watered them (tank water) to see what would happen. This did

When we had the first forecast of rain I trotted out and raked and scarified where my lawn used to be. A few days ago the first rain arrived (enough to wet the ground rather than soak it) and I fed the lawn that evening. 3 days later and its been raining all day today. I'm going to throw down some seed this evening in the hope that the ground has enough water to keep the seeds wet long enough to germinate. FIngers crossed as we still have a hosepipe ban so it has to rely on whatever falls out of the sky - although the cooler evenings have started yielding a bit of dew to assist.
