Now, I'm Really Relying On You Guys......

Not quite as aggressive as a Great White, but still all hell can break out with them.

Nope Big C.... Too strenuous (at my age)..... I polish his shoes......
I bet you do.

Anyway the Arowana sounded good, so far, see what else turns up.
Also a large Piranha shoal tank looks nice if done right and the biotope adhered to when aquascaping. ( in keeping with the hunting lodge theme) methinks.

Only place in S.A. with a licence to keep Piranahs is the Pretoria Zoo aquariums....So they are o.o.t.q. (see.... I'm also getting like the young uns on here with the abreviations........b.t.w. ever wondered why the word "abreviation" is such a long word)???

Ah I see another one of those akin to Snakeheads being released into North American biotopes and wreeking havoc on the endemic flora and fauna.
Well that sort of thing would put pay to a lot of imports in that respect I would imagine.

I still think a large hap tank would be cool, they're not as heavily stocked as mbuna, the males are gorgeous (go with an all male tank for the biggest impact). They're easy to care for aside from finding compatable species, and IME they are very interested in their surroundings. Not only that, but with several fish, everyone can pick their favorite. :good:

Here are some links to pics (all from cichlid-forum.com) to give you an idea. I definately agree with BigC that your stocking is going to depend on what you can source though.

Buccochromis lepturus, up to 16 inches

Cytocara moorii, 9 inches

Dimidiochromis compressiceps, 11 inches, these guys are called the Malawi Eye Biter for a reason, probably best in a species tank, stunning colors though.

Fossorochromis rostratus , 16 inches, they will bury themselves in the sand when threatened, which is neat to see.

Lichnochromis acuticeps , 12 inches

Nimbochromis venustus, 10.5 inches, one of my favorites

This is by no means a suggested stocking list, or even a good representation of the available hap species, just a few of my favorites. For more species try this link.

That is my friend Tony....... I'm not all as "weathered" as that!!
He's the guy with the big Wallet right!

3 x Harleys', Enormous Yacht, Game lodge, Various vehicles (incl. merc. 450SLC), Several coastal properties....... and you could tell all that by just looking at a photograph???

and his phone number is...................

I would go for an Oscar, a group of large dithers like Silver Dollars and then a group of big clown loaches and maybe 1/2 monster plecs.

i would have to say oscars, wouldnt i, the clients would love it, the fish would come to the glass to see them, and they would be impressed that the fish thought the world of them personaly

The only problem I see with flowerhorn is that there is only going to be 1 good sized fish instead of many beasts with crazyass colors. Every time I work, I see 20 full grown flowerhorn that cost thousands and about 90 juvenile flowerhorn that cost hundreds, I dont see what the big hype is about. I still think chilireds or gold crossbacks are the way to go if you want big colorful fish that everybody recognizes but not many have seen full grown.

if its a really big tank, piranha's would be impressive, not many tanks are big enough to display such amazing fish, so if it is big put them in, hunters might think they are great :good:

These Parrot Fish (Frontosa..I think) are also Post my era fish & I've seen a display with numerous colours.....

Are they also of the "injected" types, or naturally wide colour variance...... If not, I'll consider something like that in any tank which could contain approximately 15 to 20 of these..... (what size would that be??)

In Mexico I see dyed parrots all the time, blueish, pinkish and greenish colours above all. I think the orange and albino varieties are the only ones that are not dyed.

Ah Damn!!.. That's a pity.... I will not support the concept, so they are ootq
