I have this very good friend that owns an international lodge, where I visit every Friday night.....

He has now left it in my "capable" hands.... To install a fishtank in the bar area for him....

I made him a presentation tonight (amounting to R7000) (keeping it conservative) and his response was.... "F".... this, "You do what you have to do".... I want a tank in here.

You people are knowledgable, and I am totally relying on your response to base my ultimate decision on... What would you suggest I get this guy as centre piece display.... (money no object)....

I have to maintain, so Saltwater marines are out of the question. (R7000 is equivalent to approx 490 Pounds or 1080$)..... What can I get the guy??

You could always go with the high-tech planted tank. They are always a jaw dropper.

But, I will always go with a predator tank, with bichirs, dats, cats, etc. Depends on the tank size, though!

I think for a bar or public place you would be better off with big fish and I would say oscars and large plec, no plants just basic wood or stone and easier maintenance, plus fish like that appeal to general public as they appear to have more character

bit more background would help..... what sort of place is it, what goes on there, any pics to get an idea of the themes, whats the clientele like etc?

what space do you have to play with

what size is the tank going to be and i agree with keithoms, pics of the lodge would be helpful.

Get a chili red or a gold crossback arowana. People go nuts over those things. Have those along with a few widebar datnoids and some feifengs and some motoros. Theres a stunning display right there.

Ish!!!. my technological abilities are once again showing up...... Since posting this, I've been trying to upload pics from bucket, to no avail.... I got 'em in the bucket, how the H.... do I get 'em here????

It is basically a Safari type (wildlife) background, with a thatched roof concept....(the pic in my Avitar was taken in this pub).... It is a game farm with overseas hunters clocking in regularly.......

if they're on photobucket you should get a link which includes img tags, you paste this into the text box for a post, so you'll have something like this

Code:

Thanks Wiggle, I'm gonna try again, but I'm a pessimist!

what about a ray or puffer tank?

everyone recognizes those!

Sounds like a nice place, would'nt mind some big game hunting myself in Africa :)

yes as MW says, when you log into your photobucket account you'll see 4 links under your picture;
Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Code
IMG Code

Just copy and paste the IMG code right here and it should display your pics :)

TBH Ludwig the way youve described it all safari etc Id either do a Amazon Biotype heavily planted or a brackish tank with Archerfish, Mono's etc.... Would really be amazing.

Do you have any pics of the place it would go? That may help.
