What are you doing today?

I think the men's hockey was more evenly matched. Plus it had star power.

The Canadian team is in an off phase for women's hockey. The professional leagues for women are recent.

I'm a big fan of women's hockey. The games are well played. To me though, this round was a forgone conclusion. The next, if Canada can develop more scoring punch, could be different. I like the fact that the stranglehold North America had on the game is slipping, and women's hockey is becoming more competitive internationally. For a long time it was a 2 team sport. That also hurt it as an olympic sport, as you had Canada, the USA and cannon fodder.

Add sexist attitudes, and it's in the shadow of the older version.

First I must say that I am not a hockey person but watched due to being the Olympics. With the little I know about hockey I think the women's USA team was/is better than the men's. If I have my numbers right the women had a 33-2 goal differential with 5 straight shutouts. That is historic yet the men's team gets much more press.

Of course this could not happen due to physical size and strength but, if the women's team could play the men's team on even physical equality, I think the women would destroy the men. The women are just a more all a round better team with better goalies... 5 straight shutouts.

Don't get me wrong as I'm VERY proud of both teams but I have to favor the women as they set amazing standards in the sport. I just think the women deserve more recognition as we may never see such dominance again.

@GaryE LOL! I don't know that I'd call a 2-1 win in overtime forgone conclusion. ;) On both aspects, men and women, the Canada and USA teams both did awesome and are, of course, the best teams in the world but other countries are slowly catching up.

I think the uneven playing field shows more in the women's game.
In the men's game, the US, Canada, Sweden, Finland and Czechia could have won, and the Slovaks really did well. Had the Russians been there, they could have won gold. Even Belorussia has a very good team, although they're also under sanctions.

Canada's women's team was missing some of the elements that they usually have, just in generational turnover. But overall, the competition was less demanding. It was easier for the excellent USA team to run up scores and stats on the women's side than on the men's. The Olympic format makes that necessary.

There's still a big gap though women's hockey is catching up. The Scandinavians are getting good, as are the Swiss. When my cousin was on the Canadian women's team, the US was the only challenge.

My Aunt played professional baseball in the 'league of their own era'. It's a shame that game fell away too. I find in hockey, the top women's teams play a finesse, smart style I like. I follow the women's pro team in my old home city.

I'm using my new computer for the 1st time. The screen seems huge compared to the little laptop I've been using at the kitchen table. The keyboard seems miniature not that I'm a good typer. The "stand" is just temporary. I've bashed my knees & almost launched the PC once. It's not quite wide enough for a drink, keyboard & mouse.

My husband is my tech & has been putting off setting this up. I said I'll have to use your PC for taxes soon, so he'd be inconvenienced for days in addition to my crabby tax prep persona. Still, it's nice to be next to a tank again. I've missed being able to see my riverish 55g...& see how much weeding I need to do, eek!

We've been watching a bit more Olympics than usual. My husband hates that ice dancing is a sport. I've never seen a biathlon, this was my 1st time watching curling highlights. I get bored with long distance skiing, even highlights seem too long. No skating except for hockey, lol
