Those are popular at my club auctions. I love them- 3 pair that are about 2 years old. The colors get better over time- they're really active and fun. Buddy at the club said they're easy to breed if you pull the female when she's showing (which is pretty much always), but I haven't bothered to try. I got 6 butterfly goodeids from the same guy and ended up with 80 of them in a 29 gallon tank- they just went crazy. I have 6 in there now LOL.

The storms from the west are heading to my area in the northeast. We will get close to 2 inches of rain and moderate wind gusts of close to 40 mph on sunday into monday eve.

Go figure? Mid April and it is snowing hard enough to be close to a white out. In Sheridan we have had more winter in April than the entire winter season previously.

Actually I DO enjoy the snow as we need it in the mountains to help with fires during the summer. Unless you live in a mountain area you just don't get how important snow happens to be. In a couple of days we will be back in the 60-70s F but the snow will remain in the mountains.

A couple of years back we also had lite snow and had ash falling on my apartments while around 150,000 acres burned due to a lack of snow during the winter. The sad thing is that fires are natures' way of 'taking out the garbage'. We keep putting them out and the fires get worse. Controlled fires would help but too many areas do not allow.

We tend to think that we control our Mother Earth but this planet could wipe us out with a hiccup and is likely to do so. Actually MAY be in the process of doing so. Unless evolution makes us immune just the change going on with the Earth's magnetic field is an extinction level issue. As the Earth's magnetic field lessens during this natural process so does the protection from cosmic rays.

We're supposed to get around an inch today which is nothing and snowpack in the hills is down so much we're probably looking at another summer breathing smoke the entire time. I can't remember ever having such a dry winter.

Bedroom tank today. The ricefish may enjoy this, but I certainly don't . Tomorrow is expected to be hotter as well.

I was in the UK a few years back when it got into the 30s, and it was miserable. Windows didn't have screens and no one had fans. It seemed like the big change caught everyone off guard, and really roasted people. In Montreal, 35 degree days in summer were normal (-35 in winter) and the humidity was deadly, but we were ready for it for the 2 weeks it lasted. Talking to friends in interior Canada, it started early this year and hasn't let up a lot.

One of the reasons I wanted to live where I am now is that it stays cooler than that. It's sunny and 21c now. But the ocean temperature in the Bay has been up for 2 years running, and we're seeing dolphins and other creatures that rarely ranged up this way. They're welcome and very cool, but not a good sign.

The heatwave started yesterday and is expected to last till Friday then the temperature drops to normal end of June temperature. That's just 4 days of hotter than usual weather. Maybe we'll get another 4 day heatwave in July or August, maybe not. No-one is willing to spend money on equipment for use in half a dozen days a year.
We are further north that the red and even amber warning zones. There was a strong breeze this afternoon and with all the windows open it's cooled the house down nicely. When there's no breeze we leave the curtains closed on the side of the house facing the sun, and as the day moved on and the sun moves round we open those curtains and close the ones on the other side of the house. We have thermal linings in all our curtains to keep the heat in during winter and they also keep the heat out in summer. Once the sun starts to set we then open all the curtains and windows to allow cooler air inside.

Our weather is just too unpredictable. I remember a year in the 1980s when the weather was warm enough at Easter for the children to use the paddling pool in the garden. That summer it never got warm enough for them to use it again.

I live in a region where July and August routinely have temperatures ranging from 30-35 and higher. The humidity is intense. Some years the hot weather starts in June and ends in mid September. Home AC units are a must - a way of life. Yet we have been experiencing increasingly colder winters with days dipping between-15 and 0 Celsius.
