What are you doing today?

Staying home. Having a fever caused by a kidney infection. Usually when having this, I have to stay at the hospital. But my nephrologist paid a home visit. If it get worse, I should call him again. But now trying to stay home with some antibiotics.

We have loose thermal linings in all our curtains, 'loose' so the curtains and linings can be cleaned separately as some curtains are washable while the linings are dry clean. A couple of weeks ago we noticed a split in one of the dining room linings which has been getting bigger and bigger so I bought some fabric and made new linings. I have just finished slip stitching the edges of the linings and curtains together and my back hurts from twisting to reach.

@emeraldking Hope you find healing.

I'm in Friday mode, mostly planning for next week. It's going to a huge week: Parent-teacher conferences, the beginning of my long awaited "Beginning Band for Grownups" evening class, and "Bring Your Parents To Music Day" for my upper elementary classes...in addition to all the normal stuff and a sick wife. Might have to do some hunting and/or bow building this weekend, just to get my brain in a good place to do it all.

Almost froze my fingers this morning. They were burning for quite some time after I got inside. It can happen fast, even though technically, it's only -17. There's a sea mist blowing in and it gets on your skin and freezes. It wasn't friendly for the cheekbones either. The cold is usually dry, but not this morning.

Every cold day is a part of the run to warmer times ahead.

I have a mouse or two in my fishroom. They got in last week. Mice don't usually wander in extreme cold, but there was work being done on a derelict house next door, and I guess they got flushed out, ran for it and found a hole into the garage. From there, they must have made a run for the fishroom when I had the door open. The door is inside the building.

They're smart ones, avoiding all traps and causing mouse mayhem. They ate a bag of brewer's yeast I use in fruit fly cultures. Indigestion anyone? Times are hard. Now they are burrowing in my house plant pots. I feel like Elmer Fudd, out hunting the unfortunate creatures.

Might be time to invest in a farm cat. Or a ferret. Or a pet kestrel.

Going to go out for a run this afternoon since our weather here is so nice . Sunny and 50 degrees is great this time of year . The one year anniversary of my wife’s death is in two weeks and I have been thinking about her a lot these past few days . I really miss her .

We passed the anniversary of our son's death a week ago yesterday. Always good to get that part of the year done. Hang in there, my friend.
