All you guys back east are getting the winter we had last year here in the American West . This winter has been unseasonably mild and warm for us . Maybe that’s what you guys will get next winter .

Update here to - 25cm and 90 kmph winds, starting Monday afternoon. It was expected to track out to sea, but it seems to have changed its mind..

In the past few days, all the models except the American model had it going out to sea. The American model, predicting a big storm for the NE, was considered the outlier even by American weather personalities in the media who felt the European model got it right. Well, not only was the American forecast correct, it understated how severe it might be. Every update now seems to get worse. NYC appears to be in for it. Two full days of blizzard conditions. The only folks who probably will get it worse are the Cape Codders.

And even after the storm, conditions will be poor due to melting snow during the day and then freezing at night causing slick walkways etc. Hope you all have lots of ice melt.
We'll probably also see some roofs collapsing due to snow from two large storms on the roof. And then we may get some rain on thursday which will add to the weight of snow on roofs.

I was going to fly home from Raleigh on Monday but the threatening storm changed my plans. I’m taking a 7 pm flight back to Baltimore today. I can’t afford to be stranded in Raleigh without my meds. Not to mention the fish that will need feeding.

100% correct. I've been watching the prediction on this for the better part of a week. I actually got the warning about the polar vortex disruption two weeks ago. IMO the European model is usually more accurate, it certainly is regarding hurricanes.

I almost feel guilty. We should be seeing this kind of weather in Wyoming but we will finish February in the mid 40s - 50s.

In the end I expect that we will pay this summer as we haven't had near enough snow. I expect to be smelling smoke from mountain fires.

Actually already feeling the effects of this warm winter. Shoot, we've had more days in the 40s-50s than 30 and below. Don't know what it is but I've had allergies going on for what seems forever. Not just me either. Earlier today I was talking to a friend in my apartments and he is having the same thing. Watery eyes, sneezing fits and constantly having to blow my nose. Just added allergy meds to my grocery delivery list. 300 tabs with a full 5 star rating even with only 3 reviews. Such deals are why I have groceries delivered. In store the cost would have been like $50.00 but, 0n-line, I'm paying around $12.00.

This is an odd one, because while they're predicting 25cm (10 inches for the US people) for the province, the exception that could get more is right on the coast. Hey, that's where we are.
Normally storms go the other way, and we get off easy. This'll be two in a row with odd tracks.

The last one was predicted at 2 to 4 cm, a dusting. It stalled over the Bay and we got 23cm - a mess. The response is usually fast here, but everyone got surprised by that one. With this one, coming Monday late afternoon for us, the winds will be a wild card. I've been idly checking the predictions for several days, and really thought we were clear. It's fascinating stuff.

Maybe it'll make the corys spawn...

I am about 30 miles, as the crow flies, NNE of Innesfan. We are in the blizzard zone. They are talking 18-24 inches possible. It is supposed to be wet snow which snow throwers do not like. Power outages are coming, but we have a back up gennie. We are in the woods. This is the model tractor with snow thrower I have. I had the snow cab but is was more of a PITA than an aid and it was removed.

My tractor does not use chains. We had the rear tires foam filled and then had snow spikes embedded in the tires. The tractor is solely used for clearing the driveway. It has a 42 inch, 3 stage thrower and power steering.

I hate to confess to this, but i feel absolute envy when I look at that ride on snow blower. I've never wanted a ferrari or any luxury car, but man, I'd love to have a tractor with a snow blower in front. We hire a guy with a truck and a plow - the house is easily 50 metres/yards from the road and guys my age don't like swinging a shovel for that far.

But I'd be a fine figure riding one of those, waving my hat as I ripped through snowdrifts! I'd want snowstorms.

I am reminded of our MA years. I was the main snow shoveler, sometimes just enough so husband could pull into the driveway & a path to the house. Husband bought a snow thrower & I said please not so big I can't handle it. I had a practice lesson but still shoveled if snow wasn't too deep. My 1st solo I made it down to the road...& a wheel fell off! It was a broken cotter pin & somewhere we had more. Of course I couldn't find any. So I propped up the thrower & used a wire twist tie to get the wheel on. I could barely turn it around. I had to move it or he hit it turning into the driveway. I had to drag it back uphill to the garage...& then shovel out the end of the driveway. My 1st & only time using the darn thing, lol.

We also bought a roof rake to remove some heavy snow. We had to use a ladder to reach far enough. & the back half of our Cape Cod house was lifted to expand the 2nd story (I forget the term). We could only do several feet there. The last year we were there we had over 7 feet of snow that never melted. Our house was 1 of many with ice dam damage. Ugh!!

You guys call them snow throwers there? They're snow blowers here. Snow throwers are kids.
