thats a shame. why dont you try to find him a female?

i think my new rottie just doesnt like me as last night when i was out he was apparantly following my missus from 1 end of the tank to the other swimming up to the front of the tank when she approached etc. whenever i go to the tank the bugger runs and hides!

The way I feel right now, I dont want to even try another fish in there, Im hoping the little guy pulls thru, but Terminator is just not letting the poor guy move, as soon as he tries, he gets chased back into a corner, its horrible to watch, I cant believe he's so aggressive, I mean OK, he's a cichlid, but at his size I would say its unusual for a Severum to be so nasty.

Maybe your wife is nicer to look at than you mark, just doesnt like your face  He will come round, once he realises who does the feeding!

 true they are easily bought with food. strange that hes alright with your rainbows tho. is he bigger than the new sevs? if so that could be the answer try a sev that is bigger than him. or failing that remove him then add the new sev/sevs leave it a while and then re-introduce him so its like hes going in new. failing that i rekon youre pretty much buggered

Yeah he's about 1.5" bigger than the new guys. He's always been with the rainbows, since I got him, he doesnt bother them at all or the wee corydoras.

Right, Ive just done a 40% w/c, removed a load of dying plants, re-scaped a little to try to sort things out, Oh and good news, found the second new guy under a large piece of wood, lord know how he got under there but anyway he swam out real fast and is looking ok, stressed but ok. Lets hope this works.

So here they are, both at seperate ends of the tank now, looking a little better than they did this morning, less stress bars.

those little greens are cute. be good if it settles down . i hate it when you get a fish you want add it to your tank only for it not to work. very expressive fish eh sevs. terminator looks most annoyed

res a load of Rotkeils on aquarist ads based in Leicester if thats of any use to anyone on here

good site that. its where i got 2 "jade eyed cichlids" which turned out to be cryptoheros cutteri which sell at wildwoods for 28 quid.

Update on my dilema. All is now (relatively) peaceful. I decided to distract him, so I added my black ghost knife (ghostie) to the tank, it was always the intention to do so, but I was waiting until the tank settled a bit more, this seems to have done the trick.

Terminator is absolutely fascinated with him, cant work out what this thing is, he is much bigger than him, so he doesnt go near, just watches from a safe distance, waits for ghostie to leave his cave, then goes in himself to explore it  So whilst the attention has been taken off the little sev's, they have come out, free swimming around, have eaten loads and are generally much happier, Terminator sees them occassionally goes to give chase, realises they are much faster than him and gives up. Im very relieved and hope that this ceasefire remains.

Hopefully in a few weeks with lots of water changes, their little tails will recover their finnage.

yay good stuff. sevs are curious litte critters. an absolute masterstroke with ghostie :good:
