The balance of power has shifted quite dramatically, he got the babies out and half ripped one of their tails off, the other is being chased relentlessly.

This is not good, I fear they may have to go back tomorrow :(

The weird things is, up til now hes been very placid and even stranger the rainbows are gathering around him as if to make him stop, they are like a big shoal all around him, where he goes, they go, very strange behaviour.

you may laugh but in a lot of cases it works. i had agression issues with 1 of my pearl gouramis beating the other 2 up so i netted him bagged him up for an hour or so then re-introduced him and all was fine after that. why not take sevvy out re-arrange the tank then in an hour or 2 put him back in

If I could catch little so and so I would!

Ive just chucked a lot of bloodworm in, thats keeping him busy for a while, the poor little things are lying on their sides amongst some wood, I think they are displaying their "we give in, you rule" pose.

He is now swimming happily around the front of the tank, fat tummied and king of all he surveys once again.

Now get this, the two little ones are lip-locking!!

Its just not my day.

oh dear you just aint having any joy at all are you? looks like these 2 are doomed to failiure. hit and miss adding new sevs to tank with established sev.

Well for now, I think he's done his bit, which was to show them who was boss and is leaving them well alone, thank god.

Everytime I walk up to the tank now, he comes up and is wagging away at me, I think he's proud of himself.

I will watch them closely tonight and see how the land lies in the morning, I think as long as they stay away from his home, he will leave them be, my little boy is laughing his bum off at the two fish kissing each other

lol, is lip locking a breeding ritual or aggressive behavior?

In more mature cichlids it can be breeding ritual, however at their size, Im assuming aggression, although it wasnt nasty, it actually looked quite gentle.

Oh lord, the last thing I need is breeding sevs

wel al i can say its late ad im drnk was gona say somethng inteligent but i forgot it lol

Sober again now Mark?

Well this morning, I can only find one little sev, no idea where the other is, Ive looked everywhere, so either he's hiding really well, or he was killed overnight and eaten :(

The other is in such a bad way that that shop wont accept him back, so he either pulls thru or I will have to euthanise for his own good. I went to set up an 3ft tank I had in the shed then promptly dropped it on a corner on the patio, smash, so I cant even isolate him as the other tank available has my Texas in it, which is like putting a neon in with piranha's.

This means, I can never add another sev or likely any other fish into Terminator's (as he now called) tank :( This is a one cichlid tank from now on as I cant re-home him as he is beautiful if deadly.
