Also check out one called Senegal by Unipac in the same range. It's a more natural colour and looks superb in the tank.

Really nice tank! I love your fire eel!!! Such neat creatures!

Great tank :) Love the big bruisers!! Where do you get your fish from? Always interested in hearing about good shops in the north :D

Nice set-up. Nice Fire Eel, Im tempted to get one. What do they normally eat, besides live food? How much and often do you feed them? Good Luck with the Fish Simonas.

Only just spotted the thread, nice looking fish and tank (as said earlier, lots of luck with the plants staying rooted!), Simonas. Is that a 6x2x2 tank? It looks massive, with all that open water!

cheers mate, I rarely buy from shops to be fair, my mate gave me the oscars and a 6 inch spotted gar the other day, the bichirs Igot from a guy in Wigan who was changing stock for rays, the eel off a guy in st helens who has more for sale slightly bigger if your interested. Im loving the tank at the moment I just wish it was easier to maintain the FX5 as I hardly clean it and when I do the difference in water clarity is startling!!

I have to admit I find the FX5 hard but once you get some kind of technique it gets easier - my cupboards for them are not the easiest to get the filter out of.

Wish it was easier to maintain the fx5? i find it the easiest filter to maintain :good:

no it is easy or was when my tank was in my garage now its in the living room and the fx5 is under the tank and behind my settee its the location that makes it difficult

Ah ok, hehe, ive got my tank up n running now, pics in general chat
Simon i have wanted a fire eel for ages how much was yours and do the oscars bother it much?

also what are they like with smaller fish?

hello mate I got mine from a local guy who had 6 , I paid £60 for this one, I picked up a 20 inch tyre track at the weekend as wel for £40 which is gorgeous

I;ve got smaller hoplos and a pair or cichla spirilum in their the smallest being 2 inch long and he has nt gone near them or the fish which is odd (they are going to a mates tank this week).

When I first got him the oscars they had a nibble at the eel but dont go near him now and they compete for the food at the surface with the oscars winning so I use a net to keep the oscars away and make sure the eel gets his fair share as he feeds from my hand

One of my favourite ever fish so worth getting
