Unusual stocking suggestions for a small but tall tank

panda garra are a nice fish i guess but be careful if you stick your hands in the tank as soemtime they like to jump aboard before you remove them.

@Panda_Monium Love the enthusiasm and I agree, garras are great! I've kept spotted (Garra spilota) but never pandas. Something I'll keep in mind for sure. Honestly there's a lot of bottom dwellers that have caught my eye lately but I can't keep all of them!
You can pretty much stick panda garra anywhere the temp is compatible and the water not too hard - they are a little like otto but not as sensitive and will eat bba (which is why i first tried them). They do fight with each other though i've never seen any real harm - i had 5 in a 40b and once watched 2 of them 'fight' for over 10 minutes. I mean i have no idea what they were squabbling over but they really went at each other and then i guess they got exhausted and retreated in opposite directions.

You know I see this a lot and I don't get it. I've never had troubles with them. I've got 4 now that came from Petsmart that are 3 or 4 years old now and they're fat and happy. Although lazy, and they like to eat my legenandra. 😡

yea and i picked up 8 otto at petco that were fat and healthy - they had been there for 3 months because no one wanted them. The trick is getting ones that have been accliminated for a long period of time. My basic understanding from what others claim is that when shipped the bacteria in their tummy can die and then they can't digest food so eventually they will die - i don't know if this is true but a lot of people claim it is so - it can take a fish several months to die in such a manner.

Most of the otto i have either die the first week or live forever with very few infant death but i do get a few here and there - i have a lot of otto across all my aquariums - i often wonder why i don't see little toddler ottos.

Now that I think about it I've never seen one either. They're always all the same size! I never considered breeding them since they've always been so cheap but apparently it's not an easy thing to do.

I read of several accidental breedings and using on of the repashy in powder form spread over leaves as food.
