Unusual stocking suggestions for a small but tall tank

Some of them but some of them no so much. I prefer the ones that live forever as oppose to the ones that die ever 30 days.
I have Nothobranchius that are short lived and I have my Aplocheilus lineatus that rival Methuselah but most seem to live about two years which is about all except cichlids live .

I don't mind the short lifespan too much, unless they shorten it further by jumping out. 🤬

Anyhoo, plans may be changing. I called my LFS and they will no longer do special orders, which means I'll probably have to order online. I really don't like that idea so I may be stuck with whatever's in stock. Urgh.

Doesn't aquaimports do special orders ?

I don’t get a lot of jumpers but on the rare occasion when it does happen it bums me out . I can’t help but imagine what their last thoughts were .
We're FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE; uh oh.

I don't know. People that call California the land of fruits and nuts have never been to Boulder. I avoid it like the plague. I suppose if they quarantine properly it might be worth the trip.
I've never ordered fish online before and I really don't want to have to do it now. (er, well, in spring when it warms up) I'll check into it.

Off the subject, but that reminds me of something kinda weird. Years ago when I kept axolotls I came home one day to find one burned to a crisp, with an equally toasted newt on his back. It looked like he was standing up, with his little feet in an outlet. My best guess is he decided to make a break for it, crawled out of his tank and into the newts' to liberate his buddy, then changed his mind and tried crawling back up the wall when he got zapped. Hands down the strangest thing that has ever happened to me in all my years of fishkeeping.

Oh - i only mentioned aqua import because it was in driving distance of thorton.

And I appreciate it! Like I said getting it locally (even in crazy town) is much more appealing to me than ordering online.
How did you know about aqua import? Are you in Colorado?

I have some familarity of the region. Which store do you use - i guess aqua import is not the store of preference.

About Fish is my usual go to, although they're not what they used to be when they were Sherman Tanks. (half the size now, no space for aquariums) The Fish Den is the other, I think they're Denver's oldest shop. Tons of tanks but lately their fish haven't been in the best shape. Once in a while I'll make the drive out to Longmont to check out the ridiculously clean The Fish Crew, mainly for plants or to gape at the huge salt tank that dominates the middle of the store.

Ok after browsing their site I am definitely going to make the trip out to flake city when I can walk again. Besides the silver kuhli they've also got zebra AND bumblebee otos in stock!
I kinda have a thing for bottom dwellers/clean up fish. Unfortunately I don't have the space to house as many as I'd like!

Hey any city that allows you to walk can't be a total flake.

I don't have any suggestions for the water column, but I do have a suggestion for a totally interesting 'clean-up' fish, to look after your plants and deal with algae and leftovers etc... it will work only as long as you have a lidded tank because the little critters can and will climb out!!
One will be perfectly happy on its own. They are interactive, and not in the least bit shy, with nutty personalities and a cool look. Warning: if you get more than one, you need to get at least 4-6, or they can be very disruptive due to having and maintaining their group pecking order.
Here it is: Garra Flavatra (or Panda Garra) TADAAAA!!
I don't have any yet, but have been doing the research for a while now, and Really, Really want one for each of my corydoras tanks!
I had a look and here's a link to a pretty good YouTube clip: https://share.google/GLZbsilVabXVNzUJQ
Good luck with whatever you choose!!
