Most Monies You've Spent On Fishies?

Mine was £23 for a Gold Nugget Plec. I will probably be beating that with a Flame Angel in the next couple of months though for about £50-£60.

Oh my!! With the exchange rates the way they are now. . .that's a lot in US dollars!!

I'm feeling a bit better in my purchase!! :D

It always seems the more expensive the fish, the harder they are too keep.

Is there no hope to ever keep an elephant nose within a community fish tank?

$608 (w/shipping and handling) for 5 wild caught Moba Zaire frontosas. Now I have to upgrade their housing or find homes.

In a community probably not, as they are slow, docile creatures, and most other fish will beat them too the food. A species tank would probaby be the best bet. and feeding them with small bloodworm, or some other item which is smaller than the usuall packaged foods.
I was going to buy one myself for one of my tank, but in the end decided against it, due to the problems I've stated on here.

I just recently speant £300 on a matched pair of Hemibagrus punctatus (rare indian catfish) and my rays cost me £240 for the pair though they were bought on seperate occasions. I routinely spend £40-£50 on single fish.

Definately! My girlie is just the sweetest thing, loves to be talked to and cooed over.
Now if they could just get the hang of the horizontal mambo thing going on... :hey:

I was spending a bit much for the Thai Bettas for a fish that lives a couple of years, But I really started getting crazy when I got into the frontosa thing. And I don't even have the room in this new apartment for an appropriate tank. One of the Mobas is starting to get beat up, so I have to do something now. :/ I am ignorantly impulsive. But they are beautiful.

CFC: For a catfish that couple better be personality plus!

I gotta go to work. Bye all

 actually they are the biggest waste of money yet, they are so nocturnal i rarely see more than a tail or whisker and they dont even come out in light for food, but i have to feed them or they attack each other so i cant even starve them to make them come out.

Some of my favs are not the most expensive. And catfish can be ever so secretive--although, I have only had synos and cories. Certainly not--what?--$400, $450 usd Indian catfish. The Synos were lovable and cute in an ugly sort of way until I went crazy with the Moba. Know anyone that wants to buy a 125 usd Moba?

I thought my synos had died. I hadn't seen them for a month or more, but I moved some rocks and tried to build up some caves for one of the Moba (he's getting punked badly.) What should pop out? One of the Tanganyikan Synos. But they are really only hiding from the fronts.

We are so foolish  :fish:

erm, can't remember every purchase but I think it's likely my most expensive single fish is my royal plec for £30 the other week.

but i'm spending £500 this weekend on a new tank, equipment, van hire to get it etc if that makes u feel better..... that makes £1100 just on initial set up of tanks and equipment, lord only knows how much else on upgrading equipment etc.

also my electric bill comes in at £40 a month!!

god that's scary when u think about it

You can send them over here Miss Wiggle. I need a new setup. :D

Just thinking for the last few days, what on earth am I going to do with these fronts? I need a 180 usg. :hyper:

I got the 100 usg for the two clown loaches when they were about 3 ". Then I thought they all died in the Great Columnaris Plague. But they have begun to come out again to see the queen and straita botia I got them. They aren't doing the Clown Dance yet, but they are visiting.
