Could you see any green in the throwback fry OM? It seems like in mature green sailfins there a mild streak of greenish yellow but most of the fish seems white with black speckles. Seems like the fry would be whiteish/clearish?

~~waterdrop~~

water levels
ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 0-5. did a wc this morning
lost fish today, Honey developed dropsy....wandering if a fry got stuck during birthing....and found three of her fry in the tank this morning when I did the waterchange. they should all be called Lucky.
so now have 21 fry in hatchery. plus I was the responsible aquarist and decided lots of fry wasn't the way to go at this early stage in myaquarist career, so took the males back to lfs, and got 3 females. one of which died this evening. so am keeping an eye on the other fish as they are exhibiting strange swimming behaviour and flicking off plants and decs. shall go get some parasite treatment tomorrow..... which would be best?:

ok, ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5

took fish that had passed away back to lfs to explain problem, will give new fish when tank is clear

Word of advice, with all your females, you will probably still get fry for up to 6 months as females store sperm and dont need the males present.

Good luck, your stats have been looking good :good:

yeah I know. Thats why my 64L tank is noiw for the fry! lol
and I bought another tank 48L for my Betta instead

ammonia 0

nitrates 5

ammonia increased to 0.25 so performed 60% waterchange....carbon removed for whitespot treatment

the ammonia is beginning to rise a little every day, and I am doing testings every few hours. In the morning its ok, in the afternoon the ammonia hits 0.25 so I am doing daily 50% waterchanges and then add dechlorinator and whitespot treatment...of course my carbons are out so not to remove the treatment, some of the fish are unclamping their fins and the spote are decreasing, so hopefully they will recover.
ammonia 0.25....50% waterchange
nitrites 0
nitrates 5
pH 7.4
temp still high for treatment 31 c

loads and loads , hundreds even, of tiny threadlike worms of differing lengths (3-10mm) yuk, drained and cleaned t\ank thoroughly, washed all ornaments and refilled, re empitied (as worms were still visible) and refilled.... dosed with dechlorinated tap water and white spot treatment renewed. found 11 yellow babies! placed them in fry hatchery. washed all decor and rinsed for 15mins. replaced back in tank....finished this process at 5 am
EDIT...what are these worms? cant be part of Ich lifecycle....how do I treat them?

Just kind of creeping along the glass? My guess would be planaria if that's the case... they are usually a sign of overfeeding, but honestly I've seen them in my new tanks every time now, only to have them disappear in less than a week; and I always feed lightly. In my tank with the cories though they only lasted about 2 days before they all got eaten!

When you do see them, just be diligent about keeping the tank only lightly fed, and up your vacs. They are much like "pest" snails...the population tends to explode when there is an excess of stuff for them to feed on.

Planaria are harmless and many fish like to eat them.

*I did not read the whole thread, so I'm sorry if I missed something!
