First of all, welcome to the forum. It's nice to have a new member who actually listens to advice! You'll learn fast.
If you're going to go with a tub, how about something like
this? It would have plenty of space for the fish to grow, and the dark color would make it easy to camouflage with house plants and such. And a tank that size, made to deal with cattle, wouldn't be hurt a bit by a great dane drinking out of it. Just don't let him make a snack of your fish.
If you end up digging a pond, make it 800 liters or more and you'll be amazed at how fast those fish grow. The koi (if that's what it is--does it have barbels?) could get at least a couple feet long, and a common goldfish can easily top 20 cm within a couple years. They are really fun fish, if given enough room.

Thank you, it's only been pleasure amidst my chaos?
Tub is up and running, although I could only be bpi free with a clear tub. The sales assistant could not answer my question (blank stares... huge question mark) In my opinion, the tub I have is also a question mark. Here's hoping! I have attached a clip to show.
You don't know Dexter, his a 69kg (2yrs old) chunk of a puppy, with no ears and loads of mischief mixed with an even greater amount of "no-cord's". He honestly thinks his tiny. I can write books...
Drinking = Slobber, have visions of me cleaning tubs all week. Hence the little err on the safe side.
No, I am moving to Cape Town beginning of next year. So, no pond building till I have bought my new place down there.
I don't think it's a Koi, but rather something like (searching the web) Sarasa Goldfish. I can't see now, the b@ggers don't sit still long enough to see. Complicated now because of the tub being what it is. Difficult to see if it has a "beard" or not. I should know - been staring at them long enough!
I was never intending to get goldfish. I got to the pet shop after I had cycled the tank for 2months. Was looking at a small school of tetras. (Neon), this would have fitted the small tank. They had kept the tetras in cold water, and my water had been heated. (I thought it was a little funny, but I didn't say too much as I am no expert). The goldfish were in warmed water. They didn't seem too bad of a replacement option at the time. To be fair. They are very nice to have - if they only stayed small.
My grandfather cultivated orchids and had three hot houses; he used to have goldfish in ponds under the orchids. I have fond memories of them, however very misguided ones at that. When we were young having a goldfish in a goldfish bowl, no filter, no heaters, no plants and no air pumps. Same with Guppies. Now things are WAY different. And I am learning as I go.
In other news, lost a Guppie in my other tank to mistaken suicide, he wedged himself under the filter and could not get out. ONLY had 3. Now I have 2 females.... and tomorrow I am going to get a sponge filter. As I think we have fry on the way...
Thank you as always, much appreciated - have a brilliant day / evening?
