Ian's Lounge Tank

Watching that video makes them look like they are flying through air rather than water.

Where did you order your plants from? I'm planning a 60Litre tank in the next month or so but don't quite feel up to paying through my nose for a bunch of tropica plants.

All of these were ordered through my independent LFS. He does 4 pots for £11...all aquafluer, so good quality. I got 24 pots and he did it @ £50 for me. I have spent a lot of money in there though just lately! lol. I was looking at Tropica plants and i saw that hygrophila pinnatifida was about £10 a pot! That is shocking as mine cost me £2.50. Also the HC 'cuba' was in with the deal, this also is £8 a pot from Tropica. There's no denying that they produce good plants, but their prices are getting ridiculous. I know a lot of British scapers are using Aquafluer now and getting just as good looking tanks.

looking good ian . il look forward to watching this develop

Thanks Mark! You need to get started on yours now, and get some decent pics with that decent camera!

Now for tank stocking...i'm sticking with the Cardinals, some more will be added today. The Cory's have gone and also the Gourami (both at LFS). There are some cherry/Amano/Bee/Crystal shrimp in there. When i took the tank to bits i found loads of black and white bee shrimp (bonus). Also my Oto's had bred, however they were not found. The Oto's will hopefully breed again.

cardinals do look fantastic in a planted tank . especially in a good sized shoal like youve got .

i am indeed getting started with mine mate , il be ordering all the hardware this week , but then il probably have to wait a couple of weeks til i can spend any more money on it . once ive got everything tho il start a journal

a quick update, 40ltr water changes still being done daily. Fert regime is still the same, things seem to be growing well already...The HC is taking and sending off runners all over the place.

The Crinums are doing great, there is definite good growth in a under a week.

Ian you remember you said my HC was looking good, well yours is looking uber good by your standards of judgement. Need to sort out my dodgy CO2 Fe, its giving me hell problems with an algae that resembles fibres in fabricks under microscope.

Well once my oscar is sold next week i'll be crashing my 70L planted journal and converting my 180L into a paludarium with low-tech plants underwater and emmersed plants :)

Keep the updates coming along, that HC is looking ace! Very envious right now :p

Thanks Jake, i was really unsure the HC would take in the tank, as the depth is so much. It looks like it's taking, hopefully it will carry on the way it's going.

edit, cheers James, i'm looking foward to the paludarium mate!

I use to be always for Tropica but I swear the prices must have doubled since I last planned a tank. P.Hel is like £8.50 from TGM which is ludicrous, I know aquafluer can be bought for around £3.50 on the P.Hel. Do you know of many reputable online sellers of Aquafluer?

6 days of growth, just checking how the HC is getting on...

I might get the camcorder out later. lol.

Dya know i don't know of any aquafluer distributors online, i'm not sure if anyone else does?? I know a lot come in pots from the far east. I'll have a look around, Josh.

Is it allowed for me to mention another site on the forum (heaven forbid). Well assuming it is AquaEssentials do stock Aquafleur plants. They are a fantastic company based in the UK, i've used them for all manner of things from my Jack Dempsey tank, to my planted 70L. No doubt i'll use them for my paludarium in the coming weeks also!

Boy oh boy that HC is spreading Ian, bet your chuffed. I'm not, because mine isnt going anywhere near as fast as yours, and is nowhere near as lushious!

About to click back to page two i think and find your fert regime again, certainly whilst i'm on AE's site :p

Well, i won't be getting the same ferts as you, seeing as i'm already dosing them. I just have them in molecular form, and dosing via EI + 10ml profito x2 weekly.

I need to clean my diffuser currently. If i get that clean i'll be happy with my CO2. Any tips on cleaning. I'm scared to use bleach, but don't know any other way...

Purchasing some Excel now to OD this son-of-a-b***h staghorn algae.

**stares blankly at Ians tank**

**sigh**

Thanks James...
of course you can mention sites, it's just linking to forums that contain the same info that we have on here, that we don't really allow. Tis the rules. Cheers for that, i always thought that AE stocked Tropica. You learn a new thing everyday.

Bleach is the way forward, as long as it's not perfumed it's fine. I soak mine overnight after the C02 has been diffused for the day. I then soak the diffuser in Dechlor for a couple of hours. Bleach is mainly made up of Chlorine anyway. So the dechlor will gas off the bleach. I have never had any trouble. You'll get a really fine mist from your diffuser.

I'm also loving, Floranaxis!
