Ian's Lounge Tank

Brilliant! What are your first impressions?

so far so good! :good:

All planted...5 hours later

water in...(very slowly), it's still a bit cloudy, so i'll get some better pic tomorrow.

I have tried to work with the symmetry of the tank this time around, rather than trying to make it look like a 'normal' tank.

Looks really nice mate. The tank looks huge in the last few pictures!

Thanks Jake...Just looking now the top branch is just 4" from the top of the water. The tank has a lid so there was no plan in taking them out of the water.

haha, must be just the angle of the pic, looks very low down :p.... pitty it had to have a lid, branches protruding from the top do look very effective but im sure this will look absolutely stunning aswell once grown in :)

That's the plan, you will only be able to see the tips of the branch's.

Ahh right, get ya... in that case ignore the comment lol ;)

The substrate is around 3.5" deep right at the front, the Juwel trigon tank has quite i high lip. It's a very deep tank. I think its the pic angle.

Again forget the comment, looks much shallower than it really is from the pic :good:

Looking excellent mate, im gonna say what ive previously said with the HC lol... will fill out and grow much better either individually planted or in groups of 4-5 stems. Will fill out better and give a more even growth and look.

As i said though, looking really good, will be even nicer once filled in abit :).

lol, cheers again mate, i have found the monado hard enough to plant in (i knew this already), I was gonna use Columbo, but couldn't really justify the cost at present, it would have cost me £130 on just the substrate. I did split it smaller on the right hand side, I may split it again on the left. I just hope it'll take in this tank as it has in the nano. Thanks for the comments mate.

Looking good Ian. Will look lush as once filled in and thats the way the prod plant HC

Thanks Andy! Have you got yours started yet?

right, i'm off to do a water change. :hyper:

AC

LOL, you do make me laugh.. funny that when the HC in his nano was planting in the same way, the 'pro's' on UKAPs including mr farmer suggested him plant it more like how ive mentioned lol.... so i guess it isnt the way the PRO'S plant it after all ;).

No reflection on the way you've planted it Ian because you've given the reason why but for AC the way it has been planted is often considered the lazy way... because they cant be bothered to sit there for long lengths of time planting stem by stem, The reason i also suggested 4-5 stem bunches (im quite lazy haha).

What's the fern like plant Ian? I used to have something similar but it fell to bits (mine wasn't aquatic ).

Tanks looking great, if (when) the HC fills out the foregound it will look amazing.

Yay! Finally have a long enough break from work to comment on this tank. To answer the question, the fern is, I believe, Bolbitis.

I like the layout of this tank and am excited to see it fill out. For me, really, the key to scaping a corner bow well is the adoption of an island scape, which you've done. I like the wood. I think the HC will be fine, provided it receives enough nutrients, which I'm sure you'll make sure it does.

Just be mindful of ammonia spikes and decomposing plant matter and you'll be set.

Its hygrophila pinnatifida, it's a relatively new plant on the market. A really nice looking plant!

Thanks llj! You, personally will understand how hard it is to scape a corner tank. There will be daily water changes on this tank for a few weeks. There shall be a keen eye kept on the crypts as well as they melt away to nothingness!

Loving the Seiryu mate :good:

Looking forward to mine coming now!

James.

I stand corrected. Could have sworn it looked like Bolbitis. Wow, learn something new. So a stemplant. Hmmm. Interesting. I like it. It's really pretty.

This is exactly what I did with the ADA scape and it really saved me from algae troubles when I did the rescape. Just daily waterchanges for a period of time. Now I can go about a week. It's fabulous. I love it. Don't think I'll push it much beyond that, though. I really do think my crypts hate it when I don't give them yummy minerals to eat.

I love it! :good: :hyper: I think it looks fab! I'll be watching closely how your ferny plant comes along - it's very pretty :)

ps. glad you like the APS filter! I only ever notice mine is there when I'm sat right next to the tank.

Thanks Cazzie and James! :good:

I thought i'd better go through the fert regime...
