Er..my Cats Eaten Our Algae Wafers.

my dog stuck his tongue in one of my fish food pots earlier, managed to scoop up one algae wafer and a few catfish pellets. i was watching a new fish feed at the time, first i knew of my dogs snack was the crunching as he was sat behind me.

I used to come home and find loads of teeth marks in the top of the goldfish flake tub. As you can imagine this left me confused as hell only to catch the cat having a right go at it one day. Little b****rd loved the stuff

So my cat thinks he's a plec, and my guppy thinks he's a cichlid.

Why can't i have normal pets?

And what will cat algae poo look like?? Why do I want to be looking for it??
Its probable you will find one or two whole pellets in his poo

...and...erm...what should they do once they find them, Carl ??? :D

Hahaha I can just see the OP sitting there picking through cat poo...EUGH!!

Oh and my cat loves to lick up any stray fish flakes that I usually manage to drop at feedtime.

No idea if eating too many alagae wafers will harm the cat, though. Maybe he was in need of some vegetation, you know, like when they chew grass? He's prob got a big fur ball he needs to sick up LOL!

Ewww@Athena

RK, maybe you should try feeding your cat a bit more often?

You think that's bad - my cat actually used to climb behind the fishtank and into the cupboard and steal the fish food tubs and eat the food (if he could get the lid off) - sometimes I'd find the chewed tub under the kitchen table, or halfway up the stairs. Cats have very sensitive noses - even if you cant smell the food with the lid on, the cat probably can, and if they can smell it, they'll try to get at it. Food is food after all.

Solution: transfer your fish food into glass jars. Problem solved. Smell can't get out, cat can't get in.

All my fish foods are now in old baby food jars etc. Love fish food he may, but chew through a glass jar he cannot!

I win! :D :hyper:

ours dogs used to like
fish flake and high
protein pellets as well
as the algae wafers

My cat Sandy gets noticeably jealous when I do any thing to the tank  because she is the centre of the universe

only the other day at feeding time I was preparing the fishes food as usual I take the food out of the various packets and put in on a small dish then I put everything away and enjoy feeding the fish, on this particular evening I dropped the pack of Hikari tropical food sticks on the floor some spilt out on the floor and Sandy who was circling my feet jumped in and hoovered them all up.

She has always showed great interest in the box that I keep the various foods in and I have always thought of it as some sort of jealousy but maybe she can smell it, I do believe they have a very good sense of smell.

Regards onebto.

i must say my kittens are not that keen on cat food, which is odd considering they eat anything else! (have you ever seen a 5 month old kitten eat a whole sausage in almost one go? or drink a glass of Red Bull and run into things?!)

OMG, Timmy - Red Bull??? Your kitten must have been quite hyperactive after that!

I think all animals seem to like other animals food more than their own!
All our dogs have liked cat food best and they eat rabbit food and fish flake if they can get it.

Yes.. My cat... has eaten an entire tub (40grams) of algae wafers..

This..isn't normal..right?? :S

I hate these cats really. Anyone that lives near carmarthen want a free cat? Hell, i'll even pay for your fuel.

Stick a can of Whiskas in the fish tank. See how the cat likes having his fodder stolen

My grand old lady cat Lucy who is 16 now will sell her soul for some flake fish food - she adores it! When I feed the fish she sits and waits for her pinch as well!
