Hi guys.

Bit of advice please.
I'm looking to get an electronic gravel pump for the heavy poop in my 4ft tropical tank and would like any suggestions on which one is the best.
The 2ft syphon i have is not sucking up the poop, it's just getting half way and then sinking back down.
I know the Ehiem one is good but would like to pay a little less but I'm deffo not buying some cheap rubbish!
Suggestions please guys as I'm looking to buy one online ASAP.
Thanks.

how deep is your tank, to be honest i have tried a lot of these electronic ones and given up.     cant beat the old fastioned simple ones ,   know your wanna try some though but honestly most are useless.
I have a 4 ft tank and use the old simple 10" tube ( 2" side)  with a  1/2 " tube attached , works well and you dont need to suck on it just move up and down a little and it works great.
actually looking to get a new one myself.
I know you dont want cheap rubbish but some on offer are expensive rubbish.

loose aquatics on ebay do a simple one for about £5

see what other suggestions you get maybe there is some new super electonic one on the market.  (my tank is 2 ft deep)

Tank is 4ft long by 2ft heigh by 18 inches wide.
The syphon that i have is great for gravel and sucks up most stuff superbly but now I've changed to sand and the poop just sits there.
It does suck up some of the lighter poop but the Plecs poop and heavier stuff sucks up but seems to stop half way, swirl around a bit and then sink.
I've been using one of my nets to scoop it up but I'd prefer to try an electronic one with a net.
I've tried everything with the syphon but no joy!!

Do you think a thinner syphon would suck it up better?
Maybe a slimmer tube?

I have the same issue. I have pool filter sand and the poop swirls around inside my vacuum and everything just sinks back down. I've been looking around for something different.

If you find anything that succeeds could you let me know and vice versa...cheers bud.

Just seen this, although it says up to 12 inches deep, but maybe it would work?  Looks neat and there are of course others on there to explore at your leisure.

If you make one let us know how you get on ;)

Cheers bud.
Bought one of those Aqua One Pro Vac's with the self priming pumps on.
18" for £13...work like a treat!
Much slimmer than my old one and I've taken the wide attatchment off on the bottom so it's just the slim tube.
Sucks everything up, even the bits of heavy bogwood!!

Looks a cool cleaner but can't be bothered with air line ones.
Seems too much hassle, rather just have a good old fashioned basic one without fiddling around with pumps and stuff!!
