Don't you feel much better after thoroughly cleaning your place. And it's a healthier environment. And if you invite any guests into your place, you can be at ease that they won't point out how dirty the place is.

I have an electric stove that is 50 years old and has never stopped working. It has a smooth hard cook top (ceramic maybe) and is easy to clean. No burners or drip pans to clean. I know people that have electric stoves less that 10 years old that required major repairs.

I also have a man cave refrigerator in the garage that was made in early 1950s and it has never stopped working. My last kitchen fridge gave up the ghost at only 10 years old.

My kitchenaid dishwasher is also 50 years old and has never given any trouble.

They just don't make things like the old days.

Our cooker needed repairing a couple of weeks after the warranty expired. It's an electric cooker, two ovens (one with a grill) and a ceramic hob (ie the top of the oven). It took the repair man several visits to fix it as he couldn't work out the cause. Luckily it was just the big oven out of action, the rest of the cooker still worked.
I was preheating the big oven to cook dinner when there was a flash and a bang and the oven stopped working. It's one of those multifunction ovens with a heating element round the fan and another heating element in the top of the oven with settings for fan cooking, non-fan cooking, meat, poultry and fish cooking etc. At the first call out he looked at everything and said that as it was a new model on the market the repair van didn't carry most of the spare parts he needed, and he suggested we take out an extended warranty there and then, which more than paid for the work and call outs we needed. At the second visit he replaced the motherboard and the heating element round the fan but that didn't work. At the third visit he'd been told to replace everything from both ovens and take the old parts back for testing. Finally the oven worked.
The following year I managed to break off one of the knobs on the front, so I had that repaired under the extended warranty. He remembered the issue I'd had and told me that the tech guys tested everything he had removed and the top heating element in the main oven was faulty which caused the motherboard to fail. There had been a batch of faulty heating elements and mine was the first to fail. He repaired several cookers after mine with the same issue, but now they knew the cause and could repair them at the first call out.
Just my luck to be the first!

I just did a bit of cleaning. My stovetop is spotless and the burners and drip pans are currently going through my dishwasher. My apartment tends to be cluttered and I'm bad about dusting but my kitchen is usually pristine.

Sigh, I wish I had a gas stove but we have to deal with what we have. I just don't like electric stoves.

My house is cluttered like you’d never believe but it’s neat and tidy . I detest filth and as much as I’m not a fan of dusting I do it . It looks better dusted . My floors are spotless . I sweep and damp mop every day and vacuum three times a week .
Now , about the stove . I have a gas stove and prefer it but the oven won’t light so I have to get a guy out here to look at it . My squash garden is very fruitful and productive and I want to bake my squashes .

My Oase Water filter that includes a heater has gone down. I need to take it back to the store and get them to replace it, but not feeling brilliant today. May leave it till tomorrow. Took my grandson for his final Autism assessment this morning, so once that report comes back, my daughter will hopefully be able to apply for Disability Living Assessment benefit for him to help with extra costs incurred.

I shampooed the carpets in July and I did it again today . My cat decided to puke up all the grass and grasshoppers mixed with MeowMix that he could . Right on the carpet not one foot from the kitchen linoleum . Good aim there pussy cat . Appreciate it .

Just ordered ink for my printer. As long as they work well I got a great deal with 3 sets of the main 5 cartridges for $35.89. My printer actually takes 6 cartridges but one is "photo Blue" which seems to act as just a color control. LOL! Now to see if these things work. First time buying from this seller. Well worth the checking out especially with the cartridges being XXL as to the ink load.

Some things some may not know when I speak of ink.

• I'm buying generic ink which can be risky. Personally I've had good luck on this aspect.
• The designation of XXL speaks to how much the cartridge is filled. Normally, if you buy ink from the OEM it is only half full. An XL cartridge tends to mean the cartridge is 3/4 full. An XXL cartridge should be totally full.

Bottom line is that even if an XXL cartridge costs 50% more it is still cheaper as it is like having two cartridges in one.

I went by the "exhibition" yesterday for a short look, before the rains roared down. In this town/region, it started as an agricultural fair and horse racing meet way back when, but as the city industrialized, it turned more into a large bake sale with carnival rides. For family reasons, I came here several times a year for 35 years before we moved. This was a boring town for a long time. Everyone looked the same, ate the same, squabbled the same and celebrated the same. When I'd visit from my large city as an outsider, the sameness was striking. The place looked stagnant.
Yesterday, it was a whole different story. That bake sale's growing. The traditional foods were still there, but the local markets have home cooked Nigerian, Ukrainian, British, Palestinian, Syrian, Jamaican, Indian, Haitian and Chinese booths, and you could feel the dynamism. I grew up in a good city that a vibrant mix of immigrant cultures, and I'm glad to see so many new fish in our community.
When winter hits, we all disappear into our hidey holes.

Another appliance I have that lasts forever is this 1920s table fan. It is very powerful and the motor is super quiet and efficient. Never had an issue with it. Just keep your fingers away from the blades . It even has 2 oil cups with caps to keep the motor lubricated. I add oil to them maybe once every two years. It has never failed me.

That fan is great ! That’s from back when they built things to last and the longevity of it is testament to that . Solid steel and the oil cups are something you’ll never see again .
