What are you doing today?

I perform water change with me and the fish listening to Baroque music, yes even baroque opera. I attribute my breeding success to the constant accompaniment of Bach, Albinoni, Telemann and Corelli in the background.

Mine have the same response but get really frisky with the Romantics--Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Chopin and the like.

It isn't fish and I have told the story here before, but in the 90s my wife and I went to whale watch in Newfoundland, but as we arrived in a beautiful village the fog rolled in. The tour insisted on going out for no charge so we wouldn't have wasted our travel time (we hid money by the steering wheel) and we ended up in a deep gentle swell with thick fog and minimal visibility. It was a wonderful experience. The old fisherman running the tour very seriously pulled out a cassette and snapped it into a tinny sound system. It was Beethoven's sixth symphony.
He said the whales would sometimes swim up to check out Beethoven, but didn't like any other composers.
They weren't around that day, but the man was dead serious.

If you like whales you would love to have had one of my experiences in northern Ontario at the mouth of the Moose River which feeds to James Bay; an inlet of Hudson Bay. At high tide Beluga Whales would come up the river and go back out with the tide. They are a small whale reaching a max size of around 10 to 18 feet in length and weigh between 1,500 and 3,500 pounds. One, probably 12-14 feet was late leaving and got hung up on a sandbar. I helped roll it free.

They are such a cool critter and very friendly toward humans. But they can be almost too friendly. Lets say an average of 14 feet and you are in a 12 foot canvas covered wood canoe and one or ten decide to play. They never caused any harm and, sometimes, even looked like they were laughing at us. LOL! Trust me in that when you are in a 12 foot canoe and get nudged by something 14 feet long weighing 2500 pounds of muscle you KNOW you have been nudged. ;) They are just such cool critters. How could you not love this face?

Last Saturday, we went to Campinas to do something different from usual. I drove that simple 2015 Toyota Etios for around 213.13 miles. The hatchback went to an auto electrician to try to repair the air conditioner. Although it improved, it seems that the limited capacity to cool the cabin is Etios's project. In India, the heat waves are far worse than anything in Brazil...

Lexus RX inside the mall

Before the mall itself, we went to a very good restaurant called "Frango Atropelado" (although I always miss Golden Corral when I was living in US in 2019...).

A very interesting Ford Fusion in the gym's parking lot where I go. I suppose that I saw more Fusion here in Brazil than in Florida.

Would you buy this 1929 Ford Model A?

From last month:

I am currently sitting at work, drumming my nails on my worktop and looking at the clock as our last patient was at 4:15, my time to punch out was at 4:30, it is currently 4:55 and we have 2 patients in the back and one still sitting in the lobby with me.
As front desk we were just reprimanded last week to keep to the schedule when closing as Dr doesn't like the overtime. I have never had overtime and am lucky if I can get 40 a week, but the doctor's overscheduling and lack of timeliness is my problem.
:mad::shout::oops::angry::hatchetchase:

It's not like I have a life after work or anything...

I was out on the bike this morning and my route today took me along the banks of The Yellowstone River . It’s getting low , as it does this time of year , and I got to thinking that they’ll be letting the water out of the ditch in another six weeks or so and for about a week little pockets of water will hold some interesting creatures . @Magnum Man has got me stirred up about Crawdads and I think I’ll go have a look for one to keep through the winter .

I was knee deep in bald eagles today. Well, okay, surrounded by more eagles and osprey than I have ever seen before. There had to have been close to a dozen bald eagles, and at least one, maybe two pairs of osprey.

Those guys are bald with white heads, like me. I think we should buy them hats. It was hot out on the river today. As Canadian eagles, they won't be used to that sun.

One swooped about six feet over my head at one point, and one of the osprey and one eagle were having a major chirp at each other. Another Canadian eagle was having a bath in a mudhole. It was fun to see all of this.

I encountered a loon, a large woodpecker, herons, ducks, geese and songbirds galore. But it was the large birds that were out and about.

I just did a bit of cleaning. My stovetop is spotless and the burners and drip pans are currently going through my dishwasher. My apartment tends to be cluttered and I'm bad about dusting but my kitchen is usually pristine. ;)

Sigh, I wish I had a gas stove but we have to deal with what we have. I just don't like electric stoves.
