What are you doing today?

Two liter soda bottle. Cut the bottom off, turn it upside down, fill with hard water. Find a way to hold it upright. I have a piece of 2x6 with 2 inch holes drilled in it. 1/2 teaspoon Brine Shrimp Direct 80% eggs, a heaping tablespoon of Walmart plain salt and vigorous air. I put mine in an old cracked 10 gallon tank with a 25 watt incandescent light bulb for light and heat. Cover the tank and leave a gap for the heat to escape. Siphon into a brine shrimp sieve or a reusable coffee filter. they usually hatch around 18-20 hours. I harvest every 24 hours.

Adventurous rest of the week planned. Today a hike into Silas Lakes, if the girls will ever get out of bed. Mrs. Badger is still struggling with her lungs not working quite right, so I'm not sure how far we'll get, but it's always good to get up the hill. Tomorrow, the Badgerling and I are doing a road tour of the Red Desert. Our guide is John Mionczynski, the legendary naturalist and ethnobotanist (and heck of a nice guy to share all his knowledge like he does). Friday the three of us head up to he Oregon trail for a night in a rustic cabin at the Nature Conservancy's Lower Sweetwater Preserve, where we plan to have a relaxing weekend of fishing, knitting, wandering around, building arrows, and splashing around in the creek.

I raise frozen brine shrimp in my chest freezer. It's a pretty good setup for me and my fish enjoy them.
Yea but it doesn't work well for frys that (a) need something to chase and (b) have itsy bitsy mouth smaller than you.

Winding down my workday. Was going to do some stuff at home, but I may just wind up crashing and burning. Its what happens with 4 hours of sleep and a 9 hour workday.
Feeling like sushi but without the drive to pick it up.

You don't want a freezer that is so upright it frowns on breeding and such.
They actually encourage breeding, but only in the context of the marriage covenant. (But all those little fish wedding ceremonies can be cost-prohibitive)

What cost for little fish wedding ceremonies especially if shoaling fish?. They just run away from recess in their school and elope. ;)

Today, I will be officiating at wedding ceremonies for Nanochromis teugelsi and nudiceps, Parananochromis ornatus and some wild caught kribs. I will give them a short sermon, then hope they get to the breeding fast. If this works, I'll be forever indebted to you guys.

I've strictly enjoined all my livebearers to be loyal to their one true love, and am expecting them to behave about as well as the college students I used to teach did.

There are a lot of details to be worked out, and I fear it may fail as a top down, authoritarian movement. I have to sort out issues like trios and breeding groups, but the inevitable schisms and heresies will just be interesting to document. The Cardinals are already trying to establish rigid rules. The fish may see through my talk and realize I'm just trying to motivate them to breed. We will see how this works out.

Worked on my mural quite a bit this week (quite a bit being 6 hours split up over time, and lots of rest in between)

9 feet tall and 40 feet long!

@JuiceBox52 I love it! You’d be right at home in Manchester especially in the northern quarter we have murals on almost every building

Just a handful are on this site. We get new ones quite often and its always great seeing what artists come up with.
