What are you doing today?

I would love to travel to South America again but this time catch various species of Apistogramma and some other fish. But I doubt this will happen. I would also like to visit Germany, Austria and Italy but this time find a music guide to take me to the homes of Bach, Telemann, Corelli, Monteverdi, Albinoni, Verde, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms. At my age the latter is more plausible.

One of my 'bucket list' things that will likely never happen id to visit Australia for a couple of reasons.
  • First is the diversity of critters that live nowhere else.
  • Second, when I was in the US Navy in the early 70s, Australia was the most prevalent port for sailors to 'jump ship'. Don't know how it is now but back then the ratio of women to men was like 11:1. LOL! Probably best that I say no more on that. ;)

Central Asia, Nepal, and the Darjeeling area of India, Alaska, Nova Scotia, Austria, Taiwan, and a return trip to Scotland are high on the list of places I'd like to experience before I die. But I wouldn't really turn down free trips to Africa, SE Asia, or Australia either, if anyone is offering.

I’m attending a wedding in Silverthorne, Colorado this evening. The venue is on top of a 12,000 foot mountain. We have to take a chair lift to get there. I’m afraid of heights but will grin and bear the ride. Tomorrow morning we drive to South Dakota to visit the Badlands and Mount Rushmore. We will be in this area for a few days before making our way to North Dakota.

And here I am, with only 4 countries total visited

Today I'm staying inside watching old reruns of Perry Mason. It hit 100F today...
We get the old Perry Mason series here in NYC twice a day, early morning and late night, two different episodes. Have you seen the episode, "The Case Of The Glittering Goldfish?" It's a terrific portrait of the mid-century aquarium hobby. There's an aquarium in every scene, even the courtroom.

Is that the episode where there was supposed to be a cure for some fish disease? If not I'm still sure I've seen. ;)

It's actually kind of ironic that I have bunches of channels yet mostly, other than sports, watch things like Perry Mason (Raymond Burr), Matlock (Andy Griffith) and Diagnosis Murder (Dick Van Dyke). It is really sad that I have all kinds of channels but believe there was more to watch when I had a TV with a rabbit ear antenna on top getting 6-8 channels.

Leave it to Beaver !!!!

Leave it to Beaver !!!!
I could put up with Beaver but was never a big fan. I still watch Gilligan's Island now and then though. ;) I always thought that Gilligan was the smartest of the bunch as he just accepted the situation and made the best of it. LOL! Even though I have a soft spot for red heads I'd still take Mary Ann over Ginger.

Did you know that the censors made them fill Barbra Eden's belly button with putty due to it being too sensual? Same type of thing with Joey Heatherton. She danced on the Tonight Show hosted by Johnny Carson and the censors decided her dancing was too suggestive and, in future appearances, they were only allowed to film from the waist up.

I remember Gilligan's Island from my childhood, and I doubt either Ginger or Mary Ann would have picked me. Those poor women, had they been real, had very limited choices on that island.

We have an over 90 year old family member living with us, and she sometimes watches old TV shows like that - the TV shows that were on when I was a kid or in my teens. There's some entertaining stuff in there, but a lot of it hasn't worn well. The plotlines in Murder She Wrote.... you could drive a truck through them.
Some of the sitcoms we thought were great seem so corny now. Current TV is no better - as a kid I could watch the fishtank which was right beside the Zenith black and white TV, and I chose the better one.

To me, movies are different. I can watch them from any era and get drawn in.

I'm going out whale, dolphin and seabird watching next week, and I hope I don't end up on some freezing north Atlantic rock with a crew like that!
