You left out the part about running because you were being chased by a sasquatch.
Never been chased by a Sasquatch. But the Shoshones around here have some tales about the Little People that will raise your hair...if you can get them to talk about them.

You don't mess with the little people or the faeries!
I don't really believe in any supernatural beings, but I like the concept there'd be tiny people as relics from another time who want to be left alone, hate our guts because of what we do to their world and occasionally get malicious. The wee people are like retired people with supernatural skills.

I’m sitting on a plane ready to fly out to Colorado for a wedding. After the wedding we will drive to South Dakota to visit the Badlands and Mount Rushmore. Then off to Theodore Roosevelt National park in North Dakota. We fly home from Bismarck. I’m looking forward to meeting local folks from the Dakotas. We come from different worlds. By trip’s end I will have visited 48 states. Only Kentucky and Idaho left to visit. I trust my fish will do well in my absence. I have a well trained friend feeding my fish on day 5 of my absence. Food has been portioned out in plastic shot glasses. Lights are on timers. The generator has two full tanks of propane available. Almost mistake-proof. This will be a 10 day journey.

I'm sitting at home thinking about moving to Colorado the land of bliss. I lived in boulder for 5 years from 90 to 95.

Rocky Mountain High. It would be an ordeal moving all your tanks!

Theodore Roosevelt in North Dakota - a place I've been and was impressed with. If the geriatric buffalo male is still alive - the one beside the three cowboy movie trees near the dead end dirt road - watch out. He charges.

Do you count states you just drive through?

Travel's fun. I've been to 26 countries, including the US. I think I went to just over a dozen US states, but I've been to all four Provinces of Ireland, all but two provinces of Canada, and the village of St Louis de Ha!Ha!.
If I could, I'd run down to the airport right now. This planet never gets boring once you start looking at it. For some reason, I always want to travel at this time of year.
It may be possible to say that about every time of year.

Here, I bought some dirt cheap working antiques yesterday. An Aquaclear 1200, brown plastic casing 1970s power filter, in perfect working order, a Hagen powerhead with a pretty strong flow, and 3 probable Hagen powerheads in a smaller model. All had been stored away in a bucket in a barn after the death of an aquarist, I would have to say at least 40, maybe 50 years ago. I tested them this morning, and they work like new, which mechanically, they almost are. I'll use them. They're well made.

They're vintage. I'm a fashionable guy.

States are weird - too many different rules/govt/laws/ways to get in trouble. What you do while standing here is fine but if you take one step forward it is not fine. Yuck.

Here are the countries I visited for pleasure or was there as a guest lecturer:
USA
Canada
Mexico
Bahamas
Bonaire
St. Martin
Peru
Chile
China
South Korea
Thailand
India
England
Scotland
Belgium
Luxenberg
Monte Carlo
Spain
France
Germany
Italy
Austria
Czech Republic
Hungry
Greece
Israel
Turkey
Morocco

A lot of my travel in the US was to talk at fish clubs, but other than that, no guest lectures here. I got lectured a lot there, but they sensibly never paid me to lecture back on anything but fish.
I really want to go to Germany, Austria and the Scandinavian countries. For my fishfascination, I'd love to return to Gabon, but visit the republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Cameroon, Benin, Sierre Leone, and Guinea. But those aren't happening at my age, though one or two are possible.
I like comfortable European type travel, where I walk for 15 km a day just looking around, and the more difficult and wonderfully stranger African style trips. They're so different.
I doubt I'll travel in the US again, but other parts of the Americas, maybe.

I'm driving myself crazy with this. If I'm lucky, I'll end up at the grocery store tomorrow.

Yes, it can be frustrating yet it is likely a big reason that the U.S. is the longest existing democracy... or rather, in proper terms, democratic republic, in the world. The thing is that each state is under the Federal yet the individual states are not controlled by the main government.

I hope that this post is not seen as too political but, if it is, please delete this post.
