Back at school this week. We had an "Awkward Family Photo" contest as our start-of-year ice breaker today. The music/science/library team decided to go for an 80s record album cover (note the railroad tracks in the background). And yes, we won in the "awkwardly sincere" category.

Looks like a pretty basic family photo to me.

We had a big wind shift today, We're about 90km of ocean across the bay from a huge wildfire, and the smoke came in hard for a while. I decided it would be unwise to do hard work outside, so I went into the fishroom instead. Such suffering.

Mount Rushmore today.

We went back to Mount Rushmore in the evening for the daily lighting ceremony. It is a powerful event. Seeing the monument lit up at night is dramatic. I highly recommend this experience.

I've just watched a couple of my ricefish follow a cherry shrimp around, pecking at any that came out of it. An interesting day today

Is that at an animal park? We went through one somewhere over in the Black Hills, and I'm pretty sure I recognize a couple of those bulls.

No. We were hiking in Custer State Park.
