my reccommendations are maidenhead aquatics, based inside wyvale garden centre at crowland, just on the outskirts of peterborough. it used to be near my home before i moved house.

they may not be the cheapest but the advice given is good and they are very helpfull.

another gardencentre that sells fish and equipment in the same area is baytree gardencentre at western hills, lincolnshire, who has a reasonable pet centre. i used to go there for my fish untill one day i was there on a wed when they had just got their new fish stock in and i witnessed them turn off the fish tank lights and simply tip in the fish with the other fish that was in the tanks originally. i asked how long the quarantine period was for that store and i was told that they would be able to sell them the next morning.

it put me right off them.

now i am in doncaster and i use tanks a lot which in the main town, just behind the market. if they dont have the fish in that you want they will try to locate them for you and they are reasonable pricewise.

there is another pet shop further down the road, cant remember the name of it, and even tho the tanks are not as clean as many places, in fact i would call the tanks mature, the fish i have had has always been in very good condition and i have had no problems at all.

pets at home on york road, doncaster is pretty good now that they have had a re fit of the fish area and are stocking more fish and more types.
