Some Ideas For This Tank Plz

hmm nice idea mark.. tank was advertised as ELITE brand and was £80 - havent had time to collect it today

hoping to before the weekend now

would an odd barb ( orange with a line lengthwise) shoal in with them, as i have 1 in my other tank that i got with my 300 and totally missed him when i took the others to the shop poor bugger, and now that that tank is just getting over mouth rot i an hardly take him to the shop knowing that

may get away with it if its very similar looking to tiger barbs ( assuming its the tigers you mean that is ) but i wouldnt risk it myself .

if you want something he may shoal with but also like tiger barbs maybe consider pentazona barbs? very similar to tiger but much more peacefull

I like some of the idea's posted so far.

I'd go for a single adult angel, a couple of pairs of apisto's, some rummy noses and some praecox rainbows. And a pygmy or panda corys. Lots of tall plants and maybe a spire of mopani or bogwood in the middle or slightly off centre. And black gravel (first time I've ever recommended that, but I think it would really suit.)

As for whether or not to use the filter, to me the single most important thing would be how noisy it is - in the bedroom the slightest noise would drive me mad, so I'd check how quietly it runs and if need be replace either parts or the filter to get one that runs quietly.

hmm are these filters generally known for being a bit noisey then? ive only ever had a 405 before and that was for 5 mins till it leaked :lol:

( user error i suspect )
i love black gravel,so yes ill go with that..saw panda cories at MHA the other day and they were really lovely.. tho ive never had cories..

lights on it are 20 watt, would vallis grow under those conditions, i dont use co2.. tho i could

i would recommend maybe some paradise cichlids, i have 4 of them and they are really nice to look at, you could also go for a couple of
tuxedo damsels, as they add some personality to any tank, and are apparently friendly towards angel fish. i think the black gravel is a good idea,
although the tank will seem very dark just because of the lack in natural reflection of black gravel, you could try black sand, my friend has this
and looks really vibrant under his 20w light. Besides if you do go for cory's they love it, as its good for their undersides

I LOVE your new tank Shelagh, that was the size I was looking for for my kitchen and the wood seems more oak than beech colour, again I was looking for. So not jealous at all

i never did mel :lol:

kept the barbs in there and then kicked them out today.. cos they were doing too much munching( plants were beautiful till they got to them

added c02 and upgraded lighting ( today)

have some new fish arriving soon

thooo was actually thinking of selling this and getting a slightly larger tank
and excuse the carp on top, people keep buying this sort of stuff as gifts and not being a girly girl, it simply gets plonked
