Loving the BB gobies as ever.

On a side note, I have two fully grown bolivian rams and they havent so muched as looked twice at my galaxy rasboras, so I doubt your gobies will become lunch.

Eh, if anything, that photo makes me dubious.. but when I have seen "red" cockatoos, the red really meant vibrant scarlet. If it was me, I would definitely complain, but I can't make that decision for you. On the other hand, I wouldn't buy from a seller who thieves photos either.

I think that`s a bit harsh to be honest, the guy may well use photos from elsewhere but 9 times out of 10 you`ll also see a photo next to it of the fish he actually has.
At the end of the day, of course your personal preferences and opinions are what you`re entitled to have but there`s a lot of members on the forum who have used kesgrave without any issues whatsoever.

Anyway, RK, just give the Apistos a few days before you begin to get too concerned, I`m sure if there has been a mistake then the guy at Kesgrave Tropicals will do his best to sort it out for you

Before you get yourself in a tizzy, stop, take a breath and think.....if a fish is stressed then their colour can practically disappear yes? It`s not a case of colour changing, it`s a case of colour gets deeper as the fish becomes less stressed and comfortable with their surroundings

There`s 2 ways of looking at it, she`s stressed and pale and she will colour up OR she`s the wrong species and a mistake has been made, either way give your new little lady a chance to get settled and then deal with it from there

Rusty, great looking fish there! Even if they are not the colour you were expecting.

One little thing I thought I'd add is that it might be a good idea to leave the tank lights off a good while as your new fishies will be stressed from their journey and having the light off helps calm them down.

My problem with that is more out of principle than with using photos. For example, I would ask for permission to use them first and specify in the listing that "the photos are not of my fish" sort of thing.. if a seller did that, then I would not have a problem with it. On the other hand, when there is a photo alongside an ebay auction, I expect to be buying something identical, or at least very close to what is in the photo.

This is a point I do always pay attention to because, for a time, 90% of my income was from photos which people wanted to use for profit. I put a lot of time and work into them, so I think it is only fair that I got something for them when they were used to someone else's gain. Luckily for me, some people were considerate enough to stick to the law.

Yes, the majority of the photos I see there are either first results from Google or ones I actually know were taken by someone else or are from a specific online shop.

It's more the male i'm worried about, not the girl. The super reds have a lovely dark red on all fins, my male only has a small portion of red on 2 fins....

You have two beautiful Apisto Cacs there - and it may take a few weeks for their colours to
really come out.

I bought a pair of Cacs from an ebay seller (not Kosgrave Trops)- double reds.
The male has grown out into a truly stunning fish with bright red vibrant colours, and this took
a couple of months to achieve.
He also has a beautiful "crest" which he raises and looks absolutely stunning.

However the female has grown very little, and although her colours have developed abit, she is still
quite small and grey alongside him. She was very shy at first and would disappear for days on end, I have a
heavily planted tank, but recently has become alot more confident and joins in at feeding time.
So I'm hoping that she too will grow somewhat bigger eventually.

I do have doubts that you have "reds" there - I would have expected some red to be visible on the males tail at least.
But they are v fine fish - your female is alot more striking than mine already, and only time can tell

I think I`ve got the correct pics (I`m quite sure I have) of the reds I had and you can hopefully see the point I`m making about the colours improving as stress disappears and the fish matures:

Yes, unfortunately as I`ve said in my other posts on the forum about the Apistos, I`ve never had a lot of luck at keeping them long term and that male died. He did colour a bit more but I never took another pic before he died.

No matter how many pics you see, you have to go with your gut instinct about yours. I`m no expert and can only give you my opinion based on my personal experiences

But I have followed Kesgrave Tropicals on ebay for a while now - though not bought anything from
them personally. But they do seem to be a reputable site from what I have seen - and if they are assuring you
that they have supplied what you ordered, then I think it would be best to wait a while and give the fish a chance to
settle in and bring out their full colours.

Yeah i'll be giving them a couple of days, but I cant see how all the fins are suddenly going to take on a blood red colouration all over from only a speckle of red on the tail fin and dorsal fin.

I bought these from Kesgrave... Both of mine coloured up beautifully, but after aggression issues between the two, I found out that they'd actually sent me two males and not a m+f pair.

They got so bad, I've had to split them up into different tanks.

Do you think I should ask for a female FOC? I don't want to send the males back since they're stunning fish!
