As a substitute for the zeolite basket, you could get a filter sponge for one of the other brands of filter and cut it to fit fairly closely. It looks like anything loose in that spot could be a problem and a filter sponge will hold together and give a nice biofilter.

i had to do the same and get rid of the basket. I just replaced it with Filter wool, kind of polishes the water. Only a couple of quid too, don't pay any more than that as i have seen this priced at 7 quid or more. No more than a couple of quid pal.

I just replaced the whole lot and binned the stingray:

the Fluval is 10 times better and only about £24!
