Come on, you cant seriously think thats the same fish. They eyes, the mouth, they fins, They are all way different. As much as you want to believe its the same fish and it just became beautiful and healthy all of a sudden, I dont think thats what happened, either way this new fish(or same fish) is beautiful.

look at the length of the tail. no matter what you do, a bettas tail is not going to shorten when it heals. i'm terribly sorry about the loss of your old fish, but this certainly can't be the same one. it's just not possible.

That's definitely not the same fish, just look at the anal fin. That looks like an old split that wasn't planning to heal up to me, nevermind the curling. It's also pretty much genetically impossible for a NR fish, such as a MG, to magically change into a fish with red on it in a completely different pattern, since NR changes the very way red pigmentation works. Nope, there's no way in heck that's the same fish, I'd bet money on it.

Fish can have minor changes in colors and markings, but they seldom go from one color type to another. Genetically, there's a huge difference between a MG and red marble (or whatever that color would be considered), and one simply can't turn into the other. What's more, the shorter tail, anal/pectoral(?) fin curling, and dorsal shape are all different, and while there are sometimes slight changes, it has been my experience that severe curling like that does not heal. As for the eyes, while similar on a close up, that eye color is a dime a dozen; I've probably got about 7 bettas here with that exact blue/red split color.

Lovely fish though! He looks very peppy and healthy.

Okay, so everyone has said again and again it's not the same fish. It is now no big secret.

Moving on, I think the new one is pretty!! Actually, my Ernie is just like that, except exchange the red for blue!

i know this is an old thread but i was just wondering if you asked your dad if it was the same or not, maybe a confirmation of what everyone says
