I know I didn't see it but then again-I uprooted everything as I ordered plant weights so I wrapped them round the plants to keep them down. Then I moved the bogwood from the back right, to the front left as that net is massive and takes up the whole of the right side wall give or take an inch. So I moved the redmoor root from the front left to the back right under the net-phew! Could be a straggler, as I put the trap inside the net then let them out.

Aww good luck! Let us know how she gets on!
No my female has still a week or so to go I think. I don't know to be honest, she's been boxy for days maybe she's just greedy haha! I will go to the tank one morning and there will be more fry

Ok somethings going on-I just found another baby. I don't know if they are escaping somehow but the mesh is too small as they have grown. I think i'm going crazy. Is that me upto 12 now?

Do you think it might have just been hiding in the tank the whole time? Anyway, congratulations! That's awesome! Very happy for you and all of your fry!

Thankyou. But I am defo going crazy. I just found another but I couldn't get it, it's darted away. Everytime I lift the lid I see another  someone please tell me i'm not going crazy.

Your wishes have been granted! You're not crazy! (probably :fun: ) It might be the mesh, that happened to me once. Are you counting less fry inside of the net, or just more on the outside?

Haha thanks :p They are that small and against the white I can't count them. I still keep counting 10.
I ran my hands along it in case there's holes but I can't feel anything. We will need to wait and see when they grow to see how many I have lol.
Why could they not make a breeder trap that size made of plastic so you can see them! That would be ideal! (nobody say they have - it's called a small tank :p )

I have a plastic breeding trap, it floats in the tank. Had no problem finding it :good:

Can you look at the top of the net? Like, with the lid open or the cover off? I had no trouble counting fry in the net, but maybe that's just me! :good:

I had a plastic trap too, the marina one but I thought it would be too small for 10 babies.

I just found another 2 this morning - so going by that I must be sitting at about 14 now - but i'm not. I counted 10 this morning when I was cleaning the net out. It's hard to see when the light reflects off the top of the water! Then my glasses :p

So my babies are a week old today, still tadpole looking but definitely getting bigger. Here are some awful quality pics you can just about make them out! You can see my only dark grey baby at the bottom right in the first pic. He had a pointed tail but it seems fine now :)

I've taken better pics with the lights off.

maybe someone in the tank is still having a few babies? In the beginning, I kept seeing one or two fry, but no one looked pregnant....my red wag is kind of big anyway and now I know it was her....she isn't even all the fat now, but I can tell shes having babies today.

Or maybe they were reallllly good hiders.

I don't know, the females are all really fat. When I put the babies I found into the net they just sank to the bottom and sat there then started darting about-I can still only count 10 which was the original number but as you can see from the pics the glare from the light makes it hard to see. We will just need to wait and see! I just gave them their lunch, I feed them about 3 or 4 times a day-is that ok? They are always hungry!
I hope they grow quick, pets at home are taking the ones who don't get rehomed.
Aww good luck with your female!

I'm as new to fry as you :p but I was feeding mine 4 times with the fry food, or crushed flakes... I did notice that the ones who had escaped and hid outside of the net are HUGE now compared to the ones I had in the net, I think I needed to make sure they were eating more. I bought some brine shrimp eggs and plan to hatch some the next time I keep the fry. I have a new Gold twin bar platy who is sooo pretty, I want to see her fry!

I was going to buy baby brine shrimp online as I only have frozen brine shrimp and frozen daphnia which the fry love.
I have moved the net round to the front so they are in the stream of the filter. I counted 10 again. I have just cleaned their box out too as it gets very messy because of the frequent feeding. Some of the fry are still really tiny compared to others who have fat bodies! They must just develop at different rates.

Oh twin bar platies are lovely :D can't wait to see her fry either!
