Fish Herder
I have a female 3-toed box turtle names Hippie. I take no responsibility in the name as this was mt brother's turtle originally and he abandoned it when he moved out.
She knows her name and will come when called.
6 years ago I acquired an used 180 gallon tank and moved houses. During the move the movers broke the trim in multiple places making me hesitant to fill it with 1800lbs of water. So I took a lemon and made lemon tart by converting it into an enclosure for my turtle.
Since box turtles love to swim (and poop in water) I closed of 2'x2' for a water feature with a ramp in and out. I even built a waterfall feature out of pond foam and egg crate (which she destroyed by climbing all over it and shredding it).
I have since removed the waterfall and placed endler males and guppy females in he small enclosure (it has a filter) and I believe that Hippie doesn't like to go into the enclosure any longer either due to the fish or the ramp.
So I believe I will be removing the water feature and making the entire tank terrestrial and jut adding water enclosures deep enough for her to soak in; which is what I did in her prior enclosures. The fish will either be snacks in the 120 (if the crassipinnis will eat them, if not I an sure the bichir will) or additions to the 125, I just don't need them to be a breeding factory - which they will
I will need to purchase some additional MistKing spray nozzles, tubing, and some additional soil/coco noir and screen/mesh (too keep the soil separate from the drainage layer) and LECA (ceramic balls) or small lava rocks for the drainage layer...I forget what I used initially.
I may also put in an order for red wigglers, or get a few containers at Petco/Smart and get some isopods either locally (dig around the yard) or pay an arm an leg for them through a reptile store or site (why are they so expensive!)
Whenever I get home tonight I will get some photos so you can get a better idea of what I am rambling on about. It won't be till late as I am working till 5:30, need to gas, drop off Amazon returns, and do a little grocery shopping at Aldi- should really stop at Petco to get Hippie some mealworms or hornworms. Hope to be home before 8.
