My Guppy Fry Journal

Still no spots :hyper: woohoo!

Thanks. I am still doing the water changes and salt until about wednesday. That will have been 2 weeks.
I am so glad as the female is very square and is due any day now.
As for the updates with the fry-I have a favourite, the grey one with the red eyes. He has got black smudges on his fins and tail-he is so cute!
Some of the fry who are only 2 weeks old are still tiny. The 3 week old ones some of them are almost the same size as the endler. They have shot up since the temp went up. There tails are getting big too! Some have yellow tinges, some have red tinges and one is still pink. I can't wait until they colour up, it's so exciting!
The cories seem to be handling it very well. I haven't seen a change in their behaviour, maybe a little more active during the day but that's about it. They usually sit in the slate cave during the day after the feeding, then come out about 5ish and scurry about most of the night. My bronze one is massive now  then again he is the first one out for food
Alls looking well. Again a big thankyou to everyone who has helped me. Thanks for all your support. I will try get pics of some of the bigger babies and of smudgy the little grey one :D

So of course, I can't get a pic, by the time I press capture, they have moved so i'm afraid it's another video. Look at the size of them now! You can see the size difference between the bigger ones who are 3 weeks old the others who are 2 weeks old.
I do believe if I didn't get the dreaded ich I would have had more. I counted 12 this morning. I started with about 21. Nevermind.

I am very happy for you. You must be breathing so much easier now when looking at your tank!

Thanks. It's meant to be a happy time yeah-but I still sit there anxiously looking at every fish just in case lol. Once I know for sure it's away-then I will breathe a big sigh of relief!

So glaD you are able to get back to enjoying your fish, I thought I was rid of the ich but missed a spot on one of the tiny neons so am still on water changes, good luck with the pending fry.

oh no, this is why i'm not breathing a sigh of relief yet-just in case I have missed any. It's easier to see on the adults with their dark colours, but the babies are so small. I sit there for about an hour every morning after the water change/salt just to make sure there's no spots.
Really hope you get it sorted soon.

I have found my camera so I will be putting pics of my fish up - but beware - i'm no photographer

Ok here are the pics of the adults :)

Lucky for me our babies have their own 20g so none of them were affected cant imagine having to check all 17 of them for spots as well. I know at least 2 of my guppies are getting closer to dropping more fry but do not know when as they were preggers from the pet store ( they are the ones that I am sure brought the ich) I would normally move them to give birth in the fry tank but am scared to transfer anything nasty to the babies so am hoping for this last spot to fall off the neon so when the time comes it won't be a worry anymore. It is bad enough that we have lost two of our guppies over the past two weeks, just don't want to loose any more.

That's totally understandable. I am in a similar situation as you can see in the pics the 2 females are ready to drop so i'm hoping this week will give me the all clear before they do. I don't want a mass infestation.
It's so frustrating but just keep it up and hopefully you wont have any more losses. Good luck :good:

Today still no spots so I put the last treatment of salt this morning after a water change, and I will start gradually dropping the temperature tomorrow-hopefully my amazon sword will be saved! It started getting all wilted and brown so i'm hoping I can salvage them if not I have some being delivered on thursday :D

Last night I noticed from about 4pm the frys mum was just hovering about in the top right so I thought maybe her labour had started. I only started to reduce the temp today. Yesterday it was sitting at about 30 just now it's sitting at 28.
Today she is above the filter, she looks quite distressed, the males wont leave her alone, she's breathing really fast, she has a pointy thing sticking out her so I think she is definitely in labour (again  )
I don't know what to do to make her any more comfortable or less distressed. She is just hovering and breathing rapidly. Should I maybe turn the tank lights off? Last time she just went in the plants and when I came back she had had them. This time however she seems distressed.
The other female with the large tail is under the filter and she's just hovering too. Every now and then they will chase each other. Maybe trying to find a spot?

I will just let them get on with it and save any fry I see.

What a great thread this is, reminds me of my days of breeding guppies, congrats :)
