My Guppy Fry Journal

Ugh. Sorry it's not gone yet.
It's ok. I will see what it's like a week on from today, I will keep up the 50% water changes and keep adding the salt and keep the temp at 84. If they still have spots I will need to get the white spot treatment and give it a go.

Really feel for you, we are having the exact same issue in our tank after introducing new Guppies, and we seem to be at the same stage with just a few spots remaning. Hope it gos away soon, and we can both get back to enjoying our new babies.

aww no :( Are you using treatment or salt?
My fish don't appear stressed which is good, that will help them get rid of it. My cories seem to be doing what they normally do digging about in the sand but how long will they be able to withstand the heat and salt. I will give it until wednesday and then I might need to take drastic action.
Good luck with your treatment scales9 :good: keep us updated.

We Tried the salt thing and the heat but my fish were getting stressed with it so had to turn down the heat a bit after a week, so we are now using medication and it seems to be working well.... Fingers crossed.

Oh that's good. Fingers crossed for you :)If you don't mind me asking what medication is it? I have seen the interpet anti white spot ich treatment at pets at home so looks like it will be that.
Mines don't appear stressed still swimming about and mating  The fry love swimming against the filter stream.
My temp is sitting at about 84 so i'm hoping it goes away soon so the fish don't start getting stressed. I have a bunch of little round things on the heater near the bottom which I think are bubbles, so that means there's still lots of aeration. I have an air pump too.
It is disheartening that after a week of water changes, gravel vac, high temp, salt and constant worry it's still there! I know things don't happen overnight so I will stick with it. I'm down to about 14 fry out of 22 so I hope I don't lose anymore.

We have been using rid ich plus by Kordan, not sure if you can get it in the uk though...so sorry to here about your babies hope the rest pull through.

I have heard of that, I haven't seen it on the shelves. A lot of people have given it great reviews. I can get it online if I need to :)

So the update today is-one baby still has a spot on his fin and the other baby has a spot on his tail. The grey baby with the red eyes had a spot yesterday but he hasn't got one today. It's easier to tell on him as he is already starting to get back markings on his tail.
Still none of the adults have spots so I am away to do a 50% water change and syphon the sand.

Thanks. I really hope so. The update is - only one baby has spots now. One on his tail and one on his fin. I hope it's gone soon this has been really exhausting :(

[sup]I got home from work just now to find the last spot has gone......whoo hoo just a few more days of treating the water. Think after this I am going to invest in a small quarantine tank.[/sup][sup]

yay! aww that's excellent news! I wish I was the same.

I thought it was only one baby who had the spots yesterday but it was still the 2 of them. Now it definitely is just the one - the smallest one of all who is still tiny has a spot on it's tail.
The first batch of babies (about 8 or 9) are 3 weeks old today and the 2nd batch will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, which means batch 1's mummy is ready to drop from next week, she is already square
I'm off to do a water change and will go to pets at home and get meds. I think it will be the best way.

I didn't get the meds from pets at home, I didn't have time to go. I am just doing it still with the salt but I cant find the baby with the spots.
I have looked and looked and looked and I see no spots. I have counted 12 fry so 2 are missing
It's still a good number as the fry's mummy is about to drop next week and I didn't notice the other female looking rather square

The frys mummy-she still has a week to go.

The frys mummy and the female in the first pics are at loggerheads at the moment. If one goes near the other it gets chased away-is this normal? Is it just pecking order?

Today there are still no spots but i'm still going to do the water changes, high temp and salt until wed just to make sure. The fish don't seem stressed and i'm surprised the cories aren't either, they are just doing what they normally do, sifting through the sand. I will continue until wed then gradually turn the heat down.
