My 2Ft Tank.

You need to work on cycling that tank before putting any fish in it if you can. One thing that works for me for a rapid cycle is to seed the new filter by cleaning the existing filter on one of my other tanks in the new tank. Even a poor clone done that way would be plenty to deal with a few guppy fry. The bacteria colony could grow with the fish if you avoid any overfeeding. Once you have a good filter established in your tank, you could indeed add some pygmy cories, but that is not your present priority.

Sorry my bad, should've stated that i meant add some pygmy cories to the 2ft tank.
I have instructions on how to build a small sponge filter for the fry tank and so will build that. Then should i just pop a sponge from the 2ft tank into the fry tank for a while, then put it back in the 2ft tank filter?

Just having a mature filter sponge sit in a tank will do nothing for your cycle. You need to get the bacteria that are on the mature filter media onto the new filter. I do that by cleaning the established filter where the new filter will pick up what I am putting into the water. That gives me a nice robust starter that can then be grown either in a fishless cycle in about a week or fish-in if the first fish population is kept small enough.

Pygmy cories can be a great addition to an established 2 ft tank. I always try to use very large numbers of the pygmies so that their shoal is not so hard to spot. I like to go with about 10 or 12 to start and see if I need to add more after seeing what that many looks like in the actual tank.

By pop it into the tank i meant hold it in and squeeze it so that it spreads the bacteria or should i clean the filter out in that tank water next time i clean it out? Which should be tommorow.

Squeezing it out is a time tested method that has been around for some time. I just take mine to the next level and use the tank as my cleaning bucket while the new filter is running on it.

Ok that works so i will make the sponge filter tommorow and clean my 2ft tank filter out in that water.

Would 1 fit in my 15gal hex tank with 3 puffers?
It says in many of my fish books that they only grow to 6cm. Is this true?

My guppies have this "time table" of food:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday-flakes or guppy gran.
Tuesday and thursday-What ever live food i can get mostly live enriched brine shrimp for £1 from my LFS.
Saturday-Freeze-dried tubifex.
Sunday-De-shelled peas.

Is this diet varied enough?
They get a variety of flakes and diferent brands are always in my fish cupboard.
Here are the foods they get (not just flakes).

Sera-Guppy granuels.

Tetra-Flakes.

Today's-Tubifex worms

King british-Algae wafers (when i get some cories)

Frozen peas Defrosted and de-shelled.

i hade to go and get the foods out of the cupboard as i couldn't remember all the names.

In my own fish room I would not use both the freeze dried and the live food in the same week. I feed mine a spirulina flake on most days with an occasional feeding of freeze dried, frozen or live food. It is a must to keep varying their foods but they are like so many of our common livebearers and need a high vegetable content in their diet.

Thanks for the reply.
What do u think about the plec i mentioned? As i'm getting some pygmy cories for my 2ft tank would it go in my 15gal hex tank?

I am aftraid that I am far from a plec expert. We each have our strengths and plecs does not happen to be one of mine. I wish that I could help more but I ask more questions than I answer about BNPs. I have 3 albino ones in my endler tank and two regular BNPs in my molly grow out tank but I am not an expert on either one Misscosmo.

Ok well do you know who is the main plec expert on here? Could you ask them to take a look please? Thanks.

Well i got my cories to day only a few to start with because i didn't have enough for more than 2 but will be getting some more next monday. My cories were the least expensive in the shop and they are hi-fin bronze cories. Will try to get a pic soon. I think i might pass the pleco as i now have cories.

Got a small vid about 40 seconds but it's not very good.

New cories.
