MLB 2026

Sox are leading 1-0 in the 4th. Meanwhile the yankees lost 4 to 1. And the Rays are losing 3 to 2 in the 8th. With a win tonight, the Sox can gain some traction in the AL East.

Cleveland just got done beating the Padres 6-1. Still this game was a bit of a milestone as it is their 10,000th win as a franchise.

And Sox win 4-0. Sonny Gray pitched a shutoff for 7 innings. We gained some traction today in the AL East. I'd like to see the Sox catch the 2nd place Yankees. I don't think we have as chance to lead the division but should be able to make the playoffs via the wildcard.

With 37, I think, games left Cleveland is six games back. It would take a really strong finish for them to make the playoffs. With their past records since the 1990's it will seem sort of strange to not see them in the playoffs.

Red Sox/Diamondbacks game....Sox lead 8 to 1 in the 6th. With a win here, The Sox will be 2.5 games behind the Yankees. They have 4 games against the Yankees starting next week. Sox have a chance to catch the Yankees before season end. The Ray should clinch the AL East.

Sox now lead by 11 to 1 in the eighth inning. The Diamondbacks have resorted to having their second baseman take over as pitcher....OY!.

Could Jo Adell be the savior for Cleveland's playoff hopes? In tonight's game with the Giants he has six RBI in the first four innings. Cleveland got Adell hours before the trade deadline. The Cleveland Guardians acquired Jo Adell from the Los Angeles Angels on August 3, 2026,

After the game tonight, assuming they hold the current 7-1 lead, Cleveland will be within five games of the division but, more realistic, they will only be a half game back for the third wild card spot.

I love the fact that Cleveland never quits! They are now even as to the wildcard and down to 3.5 games behind the White Sox for the division.

Sox were losing 2-0 in the bottom of the 9th inning. They scored 3 runs in the ninth to WIN the game. Meanwhile both the Yankees and the R ays lost on Saturday so the Sox get more traction in the AL East division.

Cleveland just swept the Rockies. They are now tied with Texas for the last wildcard spot but Texas has the tie breaker.

DANG! Being a Cleveland fan is an emotional rollercoaster. If nothing else Cleveland is always exciting and a joy to watch.

Cleveland is also slick as to trades. In my opinion their trading center fielder, Kenny Loften, to Atlanta for Marquis Grissom and David Justice was a work of art in 1997... Thing was that Loften was in a free agency year and went right back to Cleveland the following year. Cleveland got Justice and Grissom for nothing except being without Loften for a year. No one will ever convince me that this was not a planned thing. One of the best trades n Cleveland history.

Since the founding of Major League Baseball, there's never been a team in a full season to reach the postseason with a losing record. Yet with just over a month's worth of games remaining, there are only four teams in the AL with a winning record. Three of them are in the same division. It gets worse.

The west division has no team with a winning record. And AL central division has just one team with winning record. So this year there is a strong likelihood that a team with a losing record could make the playoffs. Pretty sad.

Red Sox win again 4-2 against the Marlins. They have won 4 games in a row and are 7 wins and 3 losses in their last 10 games. A four game series against the Yankees starts in New York this Friday. Since the Sox are only 2.5 games behind the 2nd place Yankees, this series might decide who holds second place in the AL East. Exciting times in Red Sox land!

Hmmm, Cleveland just keeps insisting to be interesting. :) With 30 games left they are now only 2.5 games back and tied for a wildcard although they lose that tie.

I've been watching a bit. The AL is mediocre teams with huge weaknesses playing mediocre ball. The NL is vastly superior this season. It's interesting to see teams like Toronto, with Guerrerro hitting at a lower level than their popgun glove first shortstop, are still in it. A lot of fan bases have something to see as a goal for their teams, but it's a bunch of scuffling also rans. If there were parity and the teams were hitting on all cylinders, it would be one thing, but the bonehead plays, the lack of clutch hitting - this isn't going to be a season to remember. The best of a bad lot will scrape through, unless the talent that's there wakes up and one team starts playing like it's in the NL.

I watched the Rays for a few innings this week, and they played real baseball. It's reflected in their record. There is good ball being played, but inconsistent teams that struggle to get to .500 battling it out?
