MLB 2026

Sox off to a great start vs Athletics today. It's the first inning. They had runners on 1st and second and then did a DOUBLE STEAL. With players now on 2nd and 3rd, they hit for a single and the two base runners came home. Score is 2 to 0. Awesome start!

Stolen bases are something I like about Cleveland. Last I looked Cleveland led both leagues in stolen bases which equates to one of the basics for 'small ball'. Homers are nice but I'll take four singles/walks. A solo homer involves four bases as does four singles/walks but the singles and walks will get you at least two runs while the solo homer is just one run.

Oh well, the Red Sox streak has been broken. Red Sox lost to the Athletics today 7-3.

Sox lost again to Athletics. Not good. We signed a new catcher who will start playing soon. He has a very good batting average compared to the previous catcher which should help us get back on track.

It's taken me a while to get back into watching baseball after the World Cup. But I watched a Red Sox game last week, and a few Blue Jays games on the regional feed. They weren't playing as dismally as they've been.

It's a great game when it's well played...

When the Red Sox were winning so many games in a row by huge margins, I was starting to think they were immortal. After the Sox lost today's game against the lowly Blue Jays and with it being their third loss in a row, I now am back to reality and realize that the Red Sox are not immortal.
Hopefully, the Sox can soon get back on track. On a positive note, they are solidly in the wildcard run with a 5 game padding.

Braves lost 2 in a row, then won one, then lost another before winning last night on only 3 hits! If Matt Olson would not have put one in the Chop House, the Braves would have set a record since 1992, in franchise history, with a win with 1 single hit. A Albies homer. But the Braves ended up with 3 hits, and 4 runs. Shutting out NY.

Early in the season I watched a few Red Sox games, and they were like a bad kids' softball team. The poor decisions were awful to watch,, and the errors were spectacular. Now pretty well the same group has been playing excellent ball.
Meanwhile, last year's Blue Jays came close in the World Series, and now couldn't hit for their lives. Team dynamics are really interesting to see. The whole American League looks sad compared to the National, but the inconsistency is something. Some big payrolls look very bad.

The Sox are in another big streak… the wrong kind of streak. They have now lost 5 games in a row. Seems that they can beat the best teams but are losing to the worst teams.

The Red Sox are a roller coaster this year. The Jays finished first last year, so they aren't a bad team. They're just an awful team, in the logic of sports... But teams can get hot. The Red Sox have to get that swing going - they look like a band playing standards and forgetting why. Dropping pop ups. It looks like the early season again out there.

The Jays have played well since the trade deadline as kids hungry for a job and bench players wanting to stay on the roster are playing hard. They started the season playing like stars who thought they'd automatically be in the World Series again, and now are in last. But the guys sparking them now weren't there.

I was an Expos fan, then switched to following the Red Sox and the Jays. When they play each other, I can't get upset either way. But I want them to play well.

As for the oft discussed Braves - when their GM was an unpaid intern in the Expos organization, I almost ended up working around him, in a project to provide English teaching to Spanish speaking players so they could meet the media better. It didn't happen, unfortunately, but I've always wished the guy well. He was really resourceful and driven. But I loathed the Braves as they were always good when the Expos were. The Phillies were always bad at the same time as the Expos, and there was many a battle for last place there. But battles for first were with those (*(& Braves.

Red Sox are back on track. They beat the Blue Jays 7-0. Peyton Tolle pitched 8 solid innings, getting outs for the last 17 batters he faced. The opposing pitcher was Matt Scherzer...one of the best pitchers ever. Scherzer pitched a solid 5 innings but relief pitchers didn't do very well. The Sox got a grand slam by Durbin during the game. Durbin had a total of 5 RBIs.

Braves could not even put a run on the board following Chris Sale's 9 k dominant performance. That is why his record is 12-8, opposed to 19 and 1 (Looking at his starts, that is a realistic record, he is going for another Cy Young year). No run support. And btw, how in the world are we struggling with the D backs and Brandon Phfaat. (Do not know the correct spelling of last name). We beat him up last year, not this year tho. Baseball, weird game

Red Sox play the Pirates today . The pitcher for the sox is Sonny Gray who has 14 win 3 loss record this year. He has an excellent ERA at 2.79. Can he get the Sox back on track after a loss yesterday? Stay tuned.
