Sorry but the Red Sox are still 8 games back and I just don't see them as having team depth to make it up, especially bullpen pitching. Not saying that the Sox are a bad team but they are at .500 and that is likely how they will finish. And the Red Sox beat first place Rays in the 2nd game of the double header. Red Sox have now won 11 games in a row!
For the last 20 games, the Sox have won 17 games and lost only 3 games.
The Rays are no joke. So the Rex Sox winning 11 in a row is pretty good. I like their wild card chances. The Red Sox are in the thick of the AL wild card race. They are presently tied with Minnesota to be in the playoffs via being a qualified wild card team.
They have 2 more games against the first place Rays this weekend.
Well the Rays are 3rd best in baseball and the Yank's are doing decent right now too, so them being 8 back with just under 90 games left, they have plenty of time to make that up. Remember, the Braves were not even over .500 in 21' at this point, and they won it all. Still, it will be a bit of a up hill battle for the Sox. Lot of teams still in the mix in wild card.Sorry but the Red Sox are still 8 games back and I just don't see them as having team depth to make it up, especially bullpen pitching. Oh, I'm not putting down the Red Sox or saying they won't make the playoffs. I'm just saying that I don't think they have the pitching depth to carry through.Well...the Sox beat the Rays again today...7 to 6. They have won 12 games in a row and are now 7 games out of 1st place. There is a final game against the Rays tomorrow....will the Sox sweep the series....tune in tomorrow.
Sometimes a long streak can be tough on fans. I remember when Cleveland set the record with 22 straight in 2016 it was like, "Is this the game they blow it?".The Boston Red Sox have won 14 games in a row heading into today's matchup against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park.
This is the longest active winning streak in Major League Baseball this season and marks the second-longest win streak in franchise history. They are now just one win shy of tying the club record of 15 consecutive victories set back in 1946.
