Another day without Cleveland baseball. Today's game was postponed due to air quality in Cleveland due to the fires in Canada.

Of course a baseball game being postponed is minor considering the fires. I hope that the fires don't have any impact on populated areas.

Sorry but the Red Sox are still 8 games back and I just don't see them as having team depth to make it up, especially bullpen pitching. Not saying that the Sox are a bad team but they are at .500 and that is likely how they will finish.

The Rays are no joke. So the Rex Sox winning 11 in a row is pretty good. I like their wild card chances.

Well the Rays are 3rd best in baseball and the Yank's are doing decent right now too, so them being 8 back with just under 90 games left, they have plenty of time to make that up. Remember, the Braves were not even over .500 in 21' at this point, and they won it all. Still, it will be a bit of a up hill battle for the Sox. Lot of teams still in the mix in wild card.

Braves blew away the Rangers, 15-1. This is the offense we saw for the first 3 months of the year. Victor Medaros picked up the first RBI and Hit AND at bat for pitchers this year, crazy, even tho at this point in the game TEX gave up and was pitching a position player. Braves are still 3 games over Philly. Not a comfortable lead, but hopefully in the second half they can gain much needed ground. The NL east is pretty competitive until you get down to the Mets, they fell off this year.

Oh, I'm not putting down the Red Sox or saying they won't make the playoffs. I'm just saying that I don't think they have the pitching depth to carry through.

Could the R-Sox come back from 7 games down? Of course they could as was proven by Cleveland last year when they were down 15.5 games at this point yet came back with a run to win the division. I just don't think that the R-Sox have the pitching to maintain their current run. Last year Cleveland won the division through pitching, especially the bullpen.

While there are, of course, exceptions good pitching normally beats good hitting and I just don't see the R-Sox having the pitching to carry them through... Just my opinion.

Baseball is such an odd game which is a lot of the charm. Cleveland is playing the Twins with two high level pitchers throwing. Bibee, for Cleveland, is, I think, rated #5 in the AL as to ERA. Can't think of the Twins' starter's name but he is in the same group as Bibee. So what do we have? After three innings it is 7-2 Cleveland with Cleveland having five homers.

I think that is part of the charm of baseball; On any given day you just don't know what will happen. Just wish they would get rid of the DH.
