Male... Or A Female? :s :s :s

IMO, they'll be okay w/o a top-- they've got what looks like 3 or so inches of space above the rim where the water isn't filled.

See if someone on here can take them (in the buy, sell section), and if not, I'd take them back and just explain that they are male plakats sold to you as females, and you can't house them. Any decent fish store would be embarrassed of their mistake and take them back and give you your money in return.

yeah il try and take them back on monday.. are ther egonna be ok in there til monday?

Also im more worried about my other 3 "females" now.

If they have small Ventral things does that mean there female? cause there rest have just normal size ones atm!!

Also any other way to find out myself? :).. like any definnitions?

Yeah those "long things" under their belly are ventrals, and the males as a rule of thumb have longer ones.

The pics you posted are quite blurred and out of focus but based on the few shots I could see they look like 2 males you have. You can do a partial water change before Monday but they should be OK, but you will need to put a lid or something ontop of the containers cause they can jump.

If the other fish you have are females (short ventrals and a little white dot under their bodies) then you should be OK but I'd try to get a couple of other females to defray any aggression that might occur.

Im just gonna post up some hard to get pics of the other 3 :D

Now i really hope these are females cause these are my last 3 :(

Plzzz say there females

Reading your thing about the lil white dots under the bellys, only 2 out of 5 have that...

Id say they were all females :good: No1 is a gorgeous colour and the other two look like crowntails. You are best to get another 2 females to spread any aggression so maybe try and swap the males back at the shop just dont go for anything that looks remotely male lol! As for the white spot it is not a sure fire way of sexing them as many males have them too!

do ya not think female 1 & 2 look a bit flarly with the fins?? they both have the white dots though

And not think female 1 looks a bit manly? and its this one that doesnt have the white dotty bit, but i swear its younger then the rest!!

Females can still be aggressive with each other and flare especially in numbers fewer than 5 thats why its best you get a couple more. If you put your camera on macro mode (the one with the pic of a flower!) this can help you get clearer pictures. Im pretty sure they are females but Im sure someone with more experience will be along soon to confirm it. :good:

yeah thanks for that :D

Well the one at the top keeps chasing the one at the bottom, hence why i think there both females cause the one that actually looks like a female is chasing the lil one lol

I personally think the top one of the second lot is a Male, but I'm not 100%

Really? see thats the one i class as the female :S

because not only it looks like one, but it has small vernil things, and has a white lil dot under its belly

Like I said, I'm no expert, it's fins just look too 'nice' to be female. Looks like she/he has Crowntail genes too!
