Anyone know what to expect as a reasonable life expectancy for Green Neon Tetras, Paracheirodon simulans, in captivity, i.e. my tank?

In the perfect conditions, they can live up to 10 years!

Generally though, Neon Tetras live to around 5 years.

It depends on so many different things that it's difficult to give a definite answer :/

Sorry, but are you talking about P. innesi or P. simulans or are do they have the same life expectancy?

Woops, sorry - that's for Paracheirodon innesi.

I presume it's the same though for Paracheirodon simulans, with them being so similar.

In fact, I've just done a bit of research and found 4 years, which I guess is the general life span. That could probably be extended in perfect conditions nearer to 10 years.

Thank you.  Common mistake.  Which is why I try to always give the scientific name.  But that doesn't always work either.

Yeah :)

Out of interest, why did you want to know the life expectancy of them?
