Lfs Is Still Selling Fish With Fin Rot.

I went to my LFS today and all of the fish have Fin rot, the Owner admits the fish have fin rot but hes still selling them, he tried to tell me its harmless and can't spread, Lol, half of the fish were dead, and still in the tanks, all of the other fish dying... I don't know how stupid this Owner thinks i am, I had to post this, just amazing how he could be so dumb, most of the time all his fish are healthy.

If he's making customers aware that they are sick, they can still be legally sold.

If he's not making customers aware, he's got a law suit coming his way soon.

Jeez, I would go give him a bottle of intrapet to stop the fish rot if the LFS owner is tight...

those poor fish - - even worse, people probably still buy the fish in their ill condition because they believe the owner that fish are supposed to be that poorly looking

To be fair technically fin rot normally isn't in any way contagious. Normally fin rot is the result of a few things... eg. lowered immunity due to bad water, poor diet and/or stress.
The fish then get a nick in their tail allowing bacteria in and they have no ability to fight the infection.

Although I wouldn't buy fish from there as this guy is seemingly showing no regards to the welfare of his fish. And also because with extreme cases of fin rot it leads to septicemia so you're likely to end up losing the fish you buy anyways... I really wouldn't class them as a threat to any existing fish in your tank.

if fin rot doesnt really bother him who knows what he is like in regards to other areas of fish keeping. I'd keep well away from that place, because to me, a human who cares about his/her trade and the fish will ultimately do something to help instead of trying to get them out the door with naive buyers.

I'm not going togo there again, Hes always had healthy fish there, but lately the shops started to smell, he also has alot of reptiles there, Reptiles are very healthy, but in the past 3 monthes, his fish have started to lose their colours, I told him they have fin rot, and i saw a Customer buying a fish that was not told they had Fin rot, but anyway, never going there again.

Sounds to me like he's skint. I bet the shop shuts down within the next year.

I think a similar thing is going on with one of my LFS.
