Ideas For 30Ltr Stocking

I now have my 30ltr tank available and want to restock it. At the moment there is a male betta in there, who I took off a mate (they didn't want him and were gonna flush him). I would like red cherry shrimp but seeing as my female sorority ate the last lot I had, I vito'd that thought!

Could I put corys in there? If so, how many and which species?

I do like khulis but they are my 60ltr bottom dweller. Any other thoughts of what could go in there?

What are the dimensions? Cube shaped 30l tanks will restrict you with regards to bottom dwellers which is why I'm asking.

Also what are your favourite colours/what do you like to watch?

Ohh I dunno dimensions, I got it 2nd hand from ebay. It's a bow front, no make written on it, looks like an Aqua 320 but the previous owner said that when they purchased it, the box said 30ltrs (6yrs ago). I put it next to my mate's aqua 320 and it's slightly bigger in length.

Colors aren't an issue with me, just want something diff to Bettas, my sorority are pretty colorful but I want to try something new.

Not keen on frogs lol

Are you against just sticking to say... 1/2 species? I was thinking of suggesting something like 8 Ember tetras and 8 pygmy corys

What fish shops do you have available to you for actually buying fish? If you have some good ones then I can suggest rarer fish

Maidenhead is the only LFS with variety. I really like rams but would the tank be too small? Defo want corys.

Too small for rams yes.

Well the only good cory options are: Corydoras hastatus, Corydoras pygmaeus and Corydoras habrosus. I think hastatus swims mid level aswell rather than sticking to the bottom of the tank, and the habrosus is the biggest of the 3 so my recommendation is pygmaeus.

And there are lots of small fish for the mid section, in a small tank it's definitely best to stick to a large group of small fish IMO for asthetics. So thinks like, dwarf-spotted rasbora Boraras maculatus, Galaxy rasbora Celestichthys margaritatus, Ember tetra Hyphessobrycon amandae or maybe Normans lampeyes Aplocheilichthys normani

Just some ideas

Plus don't forget an invert or two that you could consider...eg. Apple snail, Nerite Snail, Sulawesi Snails etc Ones to avoid are ramshorns and malaysian trumpet snails although malayasian trumpet snails can be kept in check so long as you don't over feed too much.

They produce a decent amount of waste so don't get one if you like a perfectly clean substrate. Also definitely don't get more than one... they do get relatively large so more than one might look a bit odd and seriously ristrict the fish capacity.

If/when you do get one, make sure they're Pomacea bridgesi, that is the species which doesn't eat plants (and tbh is the one that is normally for sale but you can never just presume that if all it says is 'apple snail'.) See www.applesnail.net for a guide on how to check the species.

Lampeyes are a great little fish, so under rated IMO, i used to have them in my old tank and they look great in a schoal, you could get about 10 in there.

I think that would be overstocked in such a small tank IMO
