an often asked question, how many fish can I keep in my aquarium???
an other way of looking at this question, is, if I was fishing in this lake, river, or water source, how many fish could I catch out of this small representation… typically few cubic feet… I’m betting most random 8-10 cubic foot sections of the lake or stream. you would be lucky to find even one fish, certainly almost never more than 4-5, the scape and available food source can increase those numbers, but again unlikely to find a whole community of different fish, in a section that size, in the wild…of course we don’t want to look at an empty aquarium, so we have to find ways of cheating… of course the glass walls are the easiest cheat, if the different fish can’t get away from each other… so our goal is to find a few that won’t kill each other…
so, I’m admitting pretty much all my tanks are over stocked, but, if I’m really good at selecting tank mates, something amazing happens, it becomes an aquarium… nope, it’s not natural, no matter how hard I try, but it becomes an un-natural thing of beauty for my enjoyment, not the fish’s…
