How Much Water Change Do You Recommend

I have a 54L Tank and I do two bucket water changes at once every a week. which is about 75% change.


This sounds like to much, am i doing this wrong?

I have a 81L tank and do a 25%-50% water change every two weeks, mostly arround 40%. Sound like you are changing a little too much water, cut it down to about 40%

that being said there is very little harm you can do and a lot you can gain by doing bigger changes, particularly if you have high waste producers or are stocking heavily.

just run the water in slowly and the temp won't drop too much, if the pH is the same in the tank and tap then there's nothing to acclimitise too! generally they are the same in most set ups or at least close enough for it to not matter.

100% water changes are perfectly fine if needs be.

i try not to change more than 25% of the water at a time, but i've read you should do 50% water changes (12 hours apart at least) after medicating a tank. breeders usually do 100% water changes daily.

On the 10g planted I do 25% weekly

I do roughly 20% a week on my 180litre planted tank - if i cant do it for one week ill do a 30 - 35% change the next
