Has My Tank Got Good Water?

so whats unfair about it?

The point I am trying to get across is that you should always research livestock/pets for yourself. Regardless of the animal.

Thats what I am doing!!!!

I did mean before purchasing said animal/pet. Like I said I am not trying to be harsh, so please dont take it that way. Atleast you are trying. I dont know anything about inverts/amphibians so I cant help you regarding suitable tank sizes etc. I'll be happy to help once your test kit arrives and you have a list of your levels...I know alittle bit about that

Yes I did get advise at the shop... which I thought was right :(

I did try and cycle my tank, the way I was told and as for the new tank.... I spent as much as I could afford, I will hopefully one day be able to afford a bigger one!! As for the other advise u have given me I am doing everything apart from taking my frog back (which I really like and am trying to make a good home), so why be so blunt. So said change the water I have, u say get a bigger tank I have, u say buy a testing kit and not test it at work which i am in the process of doing.... come on what else??

Probably because you were told just how much room goldfish need, then ignored it anyway.

You were told to rehome the goldfish and fishless cycle.

Which you did'nt.

Alright, fair enough. If you dont want to, then thats entirely your choice, no one can blame you for it.

Anyways, like the white knight up there ^^^ things are going off topic, so this is the last post from me.

I am always at the end of a PM if you want to carry on this conversation.

Right, off to buy beer. cya...and good luck with the tank.

OK guys. The guy took some advice from the LFS, which was more than most people would have done. When things started going wrong, he came here for help, which is *far* more than most people would have done. He's asked for advice, people have given it, and he's taken most of it. Thing is here, like he says, at least he's trying, far harder than most, too. Yes, he probably should have done more research before getting any fish, but then there's nothing he can do about that now, let's just do the best with the situation we've got and hopefully all will be well :)

Your test kit will also help us help you far better, because rough values are almost worse than no values at all.

Thank you :)

I am getting that on Sat :good:

If you are adamant on keeping the frog then you shouldn't put any fish in the tank because any fish small enough for the tank will get eaten by the frog as it grows.

I'd recommend getting a couple more acf's and having the tank as a frog tank. DON'T get adf to put with the acf because as with fish, the acf will eat the adf as it grows.

Read this page for some more info on acf's: ACF info page

Hope this helps a little

Andy

Right today I have called up a fish shop who will take my ACF :( *cry*

Does anyone know where I can get a ADF in Manchester when my water is fixed?? I have looked into these frogs and him and Bettas make good tank mates aslong as u watch that the ADF gets food!!

Just phone up your local fish shops and ask them if they have any in. Ask them if they are definitely ADFs and not ACFs. If they are unsure then ask them to ask someone else.
Then when you go out, you now know what and ADF looks like, so aslong as they have all webbed feet then you are getting the right type.

In the meantime you say, 'When your water is fixed', does this mean you're doing a fishless cycle? If so then good on you! It's the best thing for any fish and frogs you put into the tank. :D

Oh other notes, aswell as making sure they eat. Make sure the frog(s) have plenty of places to hide. Just incase the betta gets a bit nippy with them.

Where in Manchester are you?

Sale :)

I called a shop today and they said they sell frogs which are the same as ADF but thier common name begins with a c?? I wish I could remember its name :( Can ADF be called summet that begins with a c??

Got it!!! It was a congo frog which is another name for an ADF :)

My plan when my tank is sorted is to get a Betta and a ADF *excite*

Ah you are the other side from me.

There are some decent LFS around here, not so sure on your side but here we have BAS in Bolton (excellent choice of fish usually) and a bit further out Pier in Wigan. There is also Oasis in Salford which has a good reputation.

BAS do frogs regularly albino and brown and a reasonable selection of Bettas - different colours rather that tail types though I have seen the odd crown tail / double tail in there.

I'll pm you next time I'm going if you fancy a nosey round? If it's not too far you.

Viper&Vine are right near work, so I go whenever I fancy a walk at lunch.

They are small but I find can generally get hold of some interesting things. I got my oscar (in my avatar) there.
