Not seen any in there recently no.
I don't think you should really be rushing into buying a betta so fast...perhaps get the frogs and make sure you can keep the water conditions safe for at least a week before getting one.
Is your goldfish tank fully cycled? If not then you're probably busy doing large daily water changes on that aren't you?
And I'd definitely wait until you've actually be able to re-locate your commons to your friends pond.
Have a look on http
/www.aquabid.com/, it's an american site, but have a look at all the Betta's on there. You can pick out your 'perfect' betta and then perhaps try to find a similar one in the Uk / In a fish shop near you. Some fish shops order in on request.
I know when I got my first betta, ages ago now, I wished I'd known about all of the different colour and tail types they came in. I did love my red VT, but he was incredibly boring in comparison to some of the ones I was seeing.
I can almost guarantee your water wont be good... But they will tell you it is so they can then try to sell you something new...
However, I do agree you need something in the tank, as you need an ammonia source to keep the cycling process going. This can either be a new frog(s), or household ammonia (purchased from large 'Boots' stores).
Eitherways, you NEED a test kit of your own so you can monitor the levels in the tank. Search on Ebay for 'API Master Test Kit', make sure you get the one for freshwater tanks.
And I meant that I doubt your main goldfish tank is cycled. They should be your main priority after returning the ACF. You need to make sure they aren't swimming around in dangerous levels of Ammonia + Nitrite!

£18, lasts for more than a year. Means you can do daily testing to ensure toxin levels aren't too high whilst the tank is still in a cycling phase. BUY ONE. It will save you time, money and guilt in the long run.
£18 is a reasonable price. Yes.
OMG....
What were the exact readings for ammonia and nitrIte?
Don't mess with your PH it is (unless you have particularly sensitive fish) just a way of getting you to spend more money.
You really should have got the test kit first before more fish.
What sort of 'sucker mouth' have you got? Your tank is too small for the majority of them.
Which LFS was this as it sound like more awful advice
By the way, your Betta will like the tanin in the water.
Post a pic of your catfish and someone will id him for you.
Oasis should know better - of course you have lovely soft water - we do here in Manchester and there is no need at all to mess with it for the fish you have. If you have a read up on some of the very good topics on the ph subject then you will see just how pointless messing with it is unless you are specialising. I'd not put any more ph stuff in - just do regular water changes (eg normal weekly ones) and your ph sould stabilise at about 6.5 which is absolutely fine.
Ok, that looks like a common plec and if so it can reach 12"+ - What did the shop tell you about it?
The betta, frog and tank look fine though.A nice set up.
Just keep a really close eye on your water stats - likely your ammonia will spike with the addition of so much livestock at once and the plec especially - they create vast ammounts of waste.
[well they said that she would only grow as big as the tank would allow so she wouldn't get to big. He said that she was a nice thing to have in my tank as they help clean it
