guppy (strange behavior) *Great news UPDATED12:58

nope, not yet!

And they LOVE the FBS!!!

Even the sickly one. Even though it was more effort for him to eat it :( .

He would try to eat some big ones and have to spit it out. Then one of the healthy ones would take it from him.

EDIT: he's also quite stand offish. Is that okay? He likes to get in the top (left) corner of the aquarium by the filter. He don't stay there all the time just if there's a fight between the whites or if the male gup is harassing the female. Just if there's any type of excitement in the water. Is that normal for him to do that? He didn't used to...

Now treatment question. My treatment comes in 10 gallon tablets. Would it be okay to put 3 tablets in it? Or chould I cut a small piece off?

Some Guppies naturally are more standoffish....but if he wasn't like this before, it's not normal. He still may not be feeling 100%, due to his parasites. It could take a bit for him to recover. Giving him the FBS will help.

Yeah, just stick 3 whole ones in. That is what I always do for my 29 gals, never had a problem. Overdosing by what may not even be 1 gallon shouldn't be a problem. :)

great! I think i need to send you some money :) !!! You've been a great help! But please keep a look out for this thread b/c I might come back with another ?

EDIT: I really wish them stupid stores wouldn't do that to us! Putting everything in 10 g incr. is stupid! Especially since there are TONS of aquariums that aren't 10 g incs. BUT, it's all my LFS had, so If you got to have it, you got to have it!

I've had to keep this stuff on hand lately b/c the guppies get sick quite frequently...

No, no money! I love helping people. :)

I'll be watching this thread, and waiting for updates about the fishies! And never hesitate to ask questions. :D

Edit: And yeah...Guppies do get sick a lot. Due to all the inbreeding, their immune systems are pretty weak.

Okay, well here's another :p

Treat instructions say every other day repeat treatment up to 2 x if needed
(so pretty much 3 x) W/ a 25 % water change.

I treated them already:
Sunday
Monday (b/c I boiled everything and emptied the tank)
tuesday (b/c I moved them to a new tank)

should I treat them:

thursday and also saturday

or just thursday?

And would you do the water changes?

Wednesday for sure, Friday if they don't look like they improved a lot. And yes, do the water changes. The medicine concentration may get too high, otherwise.

well could you suggest a few (5 or so) fish that I could home with mine that aren't delicate as the otos and rams. I am not quite experienced enough to have a tough fish to care for :)

EDIT: amd also could you tell me average cost for a bio~spira bottle to treat 30gs (I cant remember how many gs a single ounce can treat. I'm thinking of asking an LFS to order me some...)

Cut that EDIT: Nevermind!! I just poured out my 10's water and am leaving it BONE DRY for 24 hrs. I looked in the filter, and it was covered with bacteria. AMAZING! And so is the 29's (not alot, but you can see some). So I won't be needing it.

Let's see...

Most Cories
Some smaller Loaches
Bristlenose Plecos
Platies
Most Tetras
Some Barbs (Non-nippy ones)

Hmmm....any paticular kind of fish you want? Schooling, top dweller, bottom dweller..etc?

And Bio-Spira...I'd say about $7 - $8.

I want colorful ones that go everywhere (any level) Also, active! :) (don't care if they school or not :) )

and this i what I plan to get: (total number, not that many more [just to clarify])
10 neons
5 whites
4 guppies
3 cories or sm loaches (rather have cories)

And then what else?

Dwarf Gouramis
Other Gouramis
Some less-nippy Danios
Barbs (As I said before, non-nippy)
Tons of other fish I can't think of right now... :p

Personally, I'd go for a Gourami.

My lfs I know has cherry barbs. If I got 6 of those, would there be any room for anything more?

Fish update:

Guppy:

He's starting to warm up to the group again :D

Neon:

Is it normal for him to stay solitary and swim up and down and up and down along a wall?
Is it cuz he's scared?

He has always done it, i just wanted to know if he'll quit after I get him a few buds...

Hmmmkay...let's see

10 neons = 10" or so
5 whites = 5"
4 guppies = 5-7"
3 cories or sm loaches (rather have cories) = 5" for Cories, Maybe a bit more for Loaches

And the Cherrys = 5-7"

Sooooo..we have 36", about. If you do regular water changes, and you over filter...you MIGHT be able to have a few more. But right now, you have mostly middle-dwelling fish...And if you Have the Cherry's, It'd be 3 groups of fish in about the same area.

I'd still go for a Gourami. :p

Meh, I stink at fish stocking though. You may want to ask in Tropical ChitChat, or Beginner Questions.

Glad to hear about the Guppy, and the Neon should perk up when he has friends.

well good. I really do like him. [neon]

I was just wondering if I could have more, but since its already over stocked, i'll leave it alone. I'll look at the gouramis. I haven't had the chance to see 'em yet, I posted that right before I had to go somewhere....

here are the gouramis I like (All within 2''-2 1/2'')

Honey

Dwarf

Croaking (my favorite out of these three) I think i'll get 2-3 of these

[I think my favorite is the banded, but he grows to big and he is very shy so he would hide alot...)]

OR

6 cherries

along with cories b/c i love them...

Rams, if you say delicate w/ any of them I'll stray away, unless I had one b/f I knew they were fragile and had a success with them... So nothin' personal against 'em abstract :D
