guppy (strange behavior) *Great news UPDATED12:58

YAY! That's great! :D

He will be a bit slow for a while, but should get his energy back soon. If you give him some high-protein foods, like Daphnia or Bloodworms (Live, Frozen, or Freeze-dried), that should help him perk up a bit. :)

Oh, and you might want to continue treating the tank he is in, just to make sure there are no eggs that hatch and start your problem all over again.

Edit: Just saw your edit! Yes, you probably killed most of the bacteria. I'm going to say it probably would be the same either way. Both aren't cycled anymore...
The fish you have are generally pretty hardy, except for the Neon, so they will probably survive the cycling. You can also use a product called Bio-Spira to help speed the cycling. :)

Any tanks that are mature that you can take gravel, or filters from?

If you boiled all the sponges yes you will be cycling the tank again, do you have another mature tank, you could take some gravel and mature filter spongers from, as long as that tank dosn't have desease in it.

I have a 1/2 way cycled 10. Its nitrites are around 15ppm w/ no ammonia (I add some every so often to keep whats done alive) It has 30ppm nitrates. Would the filtr from that help? And so you agree that putting them in the 29 will help dilute the ammonia they produce? Will the tetra live through it if I keep ammonia below .5ppm (he's my favorite :D)

EDIT: sadly I am only 16 and my mom won't allow me to drive to my state's capital to pick up biospira. No where in my town has any  .

The filter from it should help.

A bigger tank will dilute the ammonia they produce. I'd put them in there for now. I'm really not sure how low the ammonia would have to be for the Neon to survive...but below .5 sounds okay for him.

And if he is going to be going in the bigger tank, I'd get him some friends, once the tank is cycled.

Well, I put some freeze dried blood worms in there as a treat for all the moving they went through, and NOT ONE FISH, other than the white clouds, would even touch them! I was surprized...

I have some frozen brine shrimp. Will they eat that I wonder?

Add some gravel from the 10gal as well.

I agree completely!!

I had another one for him but he died. I actually about 2 months ago had 4, but I lost two, and then I lost the other one maybe last week. I lost 3 fish with in 2 days (last week or so).

Here is what has been suggested for him.

10 neons
the gupps I have
5 Whites
3 Cories or small loaches
Maybe 2 rams
and 3 otos

Will that be enough neons for him to frolic with?

Absolutely! He'll be in Neon Heaven! :D

Oh, and if you are going to get Rams...wait until the tank has been running and fully cycled for at least 10-12 weeks. They are very very delicate. Learned that the hard way!
Same with the Otos, just they can probably go in a few weeks sooner.

Good luck!

Just realized I didn't make this clear. After I put them in the 29g, they will stay in there. That will be their new home! I'm so happy! Not only am I going to be able to get more fishies, but my currents can have lots of room to explore!

O i wanted to add also, could I get a few fruit tetras in stead of the rams or otos? (They look like discuses and grow to 2'' in length. I'd say they get tobe an inch from bottom to top, best guess)

I don't know anything about them and they aren't in the dex on the site..

EDIT: How should I acclimate all of the fish? Use bags and do it as if they were newbies, or exchange water between the 2 tanks? I have to treat them both anyway... And should I put all 3 filters on the 29? B/c I have a flame tetra and a betta in a 1g that will be moving to the (2) 10gs, and I need them cycled still.

ANOTHER EDIT: THEY ARE IN SEPARATE TANKS, didn't realize it looked like I said they're both in the same one...

Fruit Tetras...are they the ones that are dyed? Not familiar with those.

And sure you could! As long as you get at least 5 or so. :) In a 29 gal, you have lots of options.

if you want fish that are dyed artificially with an ink you could get the "fruit" tetras....they will most lilkely die a horrible death and you will support the practice of dying fish

i don't see how any tetra could be more gorgeous than a ram?!?! :-(

Well their colorations are very light and their entire body is the one color. I think they could be dyed. Don't know. They are light green, L blue, and L pink. They don't have any spots or anything. They are very pretty. I love the greens and blues. Don't care much for pink :p .
