Guess What I Got Today

Those babies are definitely big enough, you dont have anything large enough to eat them now.

I thought so too but my Dad reckons the guppies will make short work of them. They're over a cm now, some are bright orange and some are paler - I wondered if that is a sign of male/female's. I wondered if the paler ones are female and the darker one's male ... if so I have more boys than girls

Nah, they're just different colours.

And at 1cm I really think theyll be fine by now, definitely chunky enough not to be sucked into a tiny guppy mouth, and big enough to escape if someone does chase them briefly.

I have some baby platys in my main tank, they were born there & are about 5 weeks old now.
They swim about quite happily with the adults.
There were some bigger baby guppies in the tank, so maybe the adults just got used to them being there

well my final dose of protozin goes in on wednesday and hopefully I'll have rid of the whitespot. If all looks okay next weekend I'll do a water change and general clean up, get my bogwood in and move the babies then - and then I can take a decent picture and change my sig pic!

Hi again - seems silly to start another thread when this one is still active and it still regards the new tank etc ...

So, I was hoping someone could tell me what's wrong with this platies tail ...

As you can see she's lost the top corner. Yesterday it was just the edge, this morning there's more missing. I'm really hoping it's Not finrot :look:

Any help anyone can offer would be great. I'm wanting to get my fry in to this tank but there's no way I'm moving young healthy fish into a tank with possible desease

Cheers :)

She's lost the top corner.

lmao! You're a wally Tizer ... starting to get your sense of humour now :hyper:

Be serious for a minute though if you can .. has she been scrapping, or have I got another desease in there?

Doesnt look like its got fungus or anything serious, just do some nice water changes and carry on with your plan. I spotted a panda cory in my tank the other day who had something similar happen to him, its growing back slowly. Some fish do nip when your not looking, others are just stupid and hurt themselves.

cheers! She's the only one with any damage and I was hoping she's just got herself nipped by another fish during the night or something :)

The green beans are a hit.
I could only get those fine beans, I blanched them, split them in half lengthways & took the seeds out.
I also tried them with blanched broccoli stalk, they're liking that too

thanks Cazgar ... I shall try it.

I found the missing Oto ... dead unfortunately :(

Well I added the bogwood today and moved the stones a bit ... which means more pictures! Let me know what you think :)

Looking good! Try moving the bog wood off centre, more towards the left, with the stones around it. That way your focal point isn't exactly in the centre and it looks more natural.

Guppies look happy :)

You've come a long way since that first tank, I'm a bit proud!

Thank you! I'm a bit proud myself :hyper:

I'll have a move of the bogwood next time I'm messing about. I'm gonna live with it like that for a few days. I want a bit more vallis - I like the look of it. The two stones on the right have created a little cave. I was hoping my cory's might like it but they've not even been to investigate yet. My guppies are always happy, although the blue male is getting old I think. He often swims now as if his tail is too heavy for him. Can't wait to get the baby platies in there now - just need that last dose of protozin and then they can go in :D

As guppies have been bred for bigger and fancier tails, their bodies can struggle to cope. Very common I'm afraid.

I'm sure the corys will love the cave in time.

Shame about the oto, but to only lose one is pretty good going.
